Latest Update CDI Issue (resolved)

Recommended Posts

I just updated my RXP GTN 750 install to the newly-released 2.5.8 version.  While on v2.5.7 I had no stability issues, but on my first flight attempt, I got a CTD just after starting to taxi out to the runway.  I chose the A2A Bonanza and my flight plan was KZZV LORES V115 ZUTIV KYNG with the RNAV 14, OTNOE transition loaded at KYNG.  One thing I noticed as I started to taxi was the that CDI on the HSI was swinging around seemingly randomly to various courses.  It did this several times before I experienced the CTD.  Not sure if that has anything to do with the crash, but I definitely never had that happen before updating to the new version.  I also updated my Garmin Trainer software to 6.50.1.

If there's anything else I can do to help or more info is needed, do let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Now I've reloaded my sim, and so far (knock on wood) it hasn't crashed again.  The CDI is still swinging around, but if I disconnect the GTN from the HSI/CRS output via the config window, it stops swinging as I'd expect.  I was able to capture video of this behavior if you'd like to see it.  I also got to thinking that it may not be a GTN problem, but perhaps an A2A problem.  Do you think this could be the case as well?

Hi,

the best way to find out if this is a problem with the GTN or the aircraft is to try out with a default aircraft, preferably the Baron 58.

I'm unsure where the problem lies, but I currently only use the GTN in the A2A Bonanza.  Prior to the update the CDI linked to the GPS and drove the plane for all navigation phases.  Now, today I updated and noticed that the CDI was pointing in a random direction, not in relation to the flight plan.  I messed with some settings and checked to be sure that the master was selected and that all GPS-driving CDI/OBS selections were as they should be.  The previous settings are still in place, in the ini file as well.  Upon any movement in the sim, the CDI needle bounces around between headings.  Nothing seems to prevent the CDI from jumping around.  I ended up going back to VLOC and using VOR stations to navigate.  And I did update my trainer as well.  So something is broken and I'm unsure where in the process that happened.

Hi,

It has been reported in our GTN X-Plane forum and we've fixed this internally (along with another last minute typo in the source code causing another small issue).

We're delaying a little bit posting a new update because we're also investigating probable causes for the reported DLLs errors, and cure (or at least implement diagnostic traces) for this.

I’m seeing something similar. FSW Falcon 50 in P3D4.3

The GTN750 is navigating my flight plan route perfectly in GPS mode, coupled to autopilot NAV but the CDI needle and course in the pilot’s HSI is randomly changing every few seconds.

Also, I track my aircraft on my iPad using Foreflight, driven by FSXFlight running on the sim computer. The aircraft is progressing along the current FP leg on the moving map in Foreflight, but the aircraft symbol itself is randomly spinning to point different directions, just like the CDI needle.

I know you are working on a fix - just wanted to pass this along.

Sorry I'm just now getting back to you.  I just tried it with the default Mooney Bravo and its CDI does the same thing.  I saw another report of this issue and your response that it has been fixed internally, however.  🙂  Thanks!

Wow! DL and installed v2.5.8 earlier today, now installing v2.5.9. Not sure That's happened before in my flight sim experience, which currently stands at around 36 years!  That's some dedication and effort RXP!

I succesfully installed the rxp gtn 750 in the phenom 300 by carenado. Replaced the gauge and it just fits. Now I have a problem that whenever I move the course radial starts spinning. Anybody know what might be going on?

@vincent357 Hi, yes everybody know what might be going on, it was documented in the discussion right below the one you've started (thus I've merged the discussions). People, please, take the time to READ the forum, then SEARCH the forum before shooting new messages. There are nearly 10,000 messages in our forums covering nearly 99% of the questions any new customer can ask. It is valuable a documentation source.

More specifically to your question now: please download v2.5.9 update released yesterday evening (our time) and the issue is solved.
