August 31, 200619 yr Never understood how you could stay afloat for such long times in a glider, but the lesson in FSX makes me want to try it for real! I think the cost saving on fuel is worth it alone.Back safely after being up at 18,000:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/155021.jpg
August 31, 200619 yr "I think the cost saving on fuel is worth it alone."That cracked me up..... Yeah..I have been meaing to do that too. I think, its a great training for regular pilots too. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
August 31, 200619 yr I actually find myself flying the gliders more than anything else in the Beta. They are a LOT of fun. :) Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
September 1, 200619 yr Im a real glider pilot and let me tell you that it is a great experience. All you hear is the sound of the wind blowing by the cockpit. It is a difficult process to get your licence but when you do. It worth every penny. Have fun gliding.
September 1, 200619 yr May I ask, why it is a difficult process to get your license?Do you mean like in ...Tail wheels are harder than tri-cycle...that kind of way hard or something else?Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
September 1, 200619 yr BIZ JET, GLIDER COLLIDE IN MIDAIR; ALL WALK AWAYA high-speed midair collision over Nevada on Monday afternoon left a business jet nearly crippled and a glider in pieces, but everybody involved, by some incredible stroke of luck, turned out OK. The incident occurred over the Pine Nut Mountains at 16,000 feet when a Raytheon Hawker 800XP jet collided with a Schleicher ASW-27 glider. The Hawker had its nose sheared off and suffered other airframe damage. From looking at photos of the incident, it appears that the glider's wing spar shattered the left side of the instrument panel. The jet was forced to make an emergency gear-up landing in Carson City. One pilot reported minor injuries while the other pilot and three passengers were unhurt. The pilots' names were not immediately released. The glider pilot, Akihiro Hirao, 58, of Japan, had a more traumatic ride. He bailed out and was found walking in a canyon hours later, according to local press reports. He suffered only minor injuries. He declined an interview. September 1, 200619 yr Why can't I find the Glider in the Beta? I've checked all the possible choices in the Menu, and I don't see how to bring up the Glider with any "lesson".Please tell me how to choose this aircraft. Stan
September 2, 200619 yr Commercial Member The first glider mission in the list was amazing, totally blew me away. This glider is one of the best default planes MS has ever made I think. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
September 2, 200619 yr >The first glider mission in the list was amazing, totally>blew me away. This glider is one of the best default planes>MS has ever made I think.Shhhh! Don't say that too loud. Everyone knows our default aircraft are crap. Just search the main FS forum! ;)
September 2, 200619 yr I like the MS aircraft. Whenever I download a freeware plane I always measure it against the standards of the MS ones. If it is missing a feature found in the default planes then I won't download it.When people constantly berate the default planes, I think they just can't wrap their heads around the idea that so many quality aircraft would be provided to the player for essentially free, so therefore they must be junk.

I am so delighted to finally see backlighted gauges* in the VC... :-beerchug *(note: anyone who's been around for long knows that's always been my pet peeve) Fr. September 2, 200619 yr Me as well and ANY DEFAULT plane is welcome by me! I've used them all and liked them all since the beginning of the franchise. Does anyone notice a brown spot on the end of my nose?
September 2, 200619 yr Some defaults are crap and many are good.I love the DC3 default.. the Piper Cub. Many of the new aircrafts that came with FS2004 are great.Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
