August 18, 200619 yr Sorry if this has already been posted. With the FSX demo, I noticed that compared to FS9, when launchinga Free Flight, the Loading Terrain Data (or Building Terran Texturesif you adjust the Scenary sliders in mid flight) takes quite abit longer. I suspect this is due to the max settings I've setfor the Scenery Terrain Mesh/Texture/etc. values. This is normal (long loading times) - correct? When I say long, it can take about 45 seconds to load. WithFS9, it was no more than perhaps 10-15 seconds.Since I don't use heavy mesh/details terrain in FS9, again Ithink I just need to get used to FSX's longer load times. Thanks for any clues.JerryG
August 18, 200619 yr Well I wonder how long it will take to load mega-city or megascenery? In fs9 it takes about 10min in daylight and 15-20min in dusk or dawn phases of the day.
August 18, 200619 yr It is longer. I don't really mind, as long as the sim is smooth and fluid once it's done loading.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
August 18, 200619 yr Just look at the impact of loading 1024x1024 in place of 256x256 for terrain textures.scott s..
August 18, 200619 yr Thanks for the confirmations. Yes, taking longer makes sense. And I agree, since FSX (even at FPS in only the high teens)is smooth, I don't mind it taking longer.JerryG
August 20, 200619 yr Author Well to give some variety to the answers, in my PC, FSX loading time is less than FS9. Offcourse we are talking about a clean FSX and a mod loaded FS9 :(
