Mouse look a late addition to FS

Featured Replies

Looks like those poor guys over at TrackIR will be losing a few customers with the mouse look now available in VC. I was going to get one myself until I saw how well the mouse look works.I remember thinking years ago how the VC really needs a mouse look. I mean FPS have always had it, why not FS? Maybe the guys at MS have been saving up the really cool features so they can feed us one at a time.Mike.

Mouse look is a welcome addition to FS, but it ain't got nothing on TrackIR's moves. :-jumpy Gary

Mike, I've been using a mouse look addon with FS2004, however it is complimentary to TrackIR4, NOT replacing. They BOTH come in handy.

Agree the mouse look is a nice feature!

Mouse look is nice, but the fact that you can't assign the mouse wheel push (or any mouse button for that matter) to activate it really disapoints me. I was hoping I could get rid of Active Camera with FSX because its buggy on my system/mouse, but if I have to juggle 3 seperate control interfaces (keyboard, joystick, mouse) its just a clumsy system.

you have one hand on the stick/yoke. you have another hand on the throttle.you have your legs on the pedals.you grow another hand and use mouse view. It's possible, at least, that the mouse look will persuade them to bring their prices down a bit. It would want to be pretty good at present prices!Mike.

I think the addition of mouse look is great for those who haven't yet tried out TrackIR (or those who have but for one reason or another can't make it work for themselves), but I disagree that it will have any effect on present and future TrackIR customers. The TrackIR is simply way more intuitive and doesn't tie up a hand to operate.A casual simmer might be perfectly satisfied with using mouse look, but it absolutely does not make up for a TrackIR unit. A casual simmer might not even be interested in a TrackIR in the first place, so them sticking with their mouse wouldn't affect TrackIR's sales one way or another.

Hi!I asigned the (SPACE) key to the thumb button on my mouse and it works GREAT.It is a "Logitech" wireless mouse.I has 4 buttons. 1 left1 right1 center (wheel& click)1 ThumbI simply set it up with the Logotech Software. It may be helpfull to some of you!The demo is GREAT....I am looking forward to the finished product!Kind regards & God blessAlfred

The mouselook is the poor mans's track IR, but it is the same as a feeware mouselook for FS9, I can't remember the name but it was a small dll file. All one has to do is hold down the center mouse button to move the mouse around and roll the center mouse to zoom.Ian.

F1 view allows you to use the mose to pan. you hold down the mouse wheel to use it. although it is not a smooth as TIR or the one MS gave us in the demo

My whole reason to use TrackIR is so I DON'T have to use my hand to look around. In fact, I can't remember the last time I was flying my airplane that I looked around by using my fingers or my hands. Seems to me I've always done it by turning my head. :-)Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)
