Radar Contact and JDTLLC in Transition

Recommended Posts

Just want to add my thanks for providing the community with such a great program.

Although I'm retired now, I was an airline pilot for better than 25 years.  Even compared to current ATC offerings, IMHO, Radar Contact was the most realistic ATC add-on available for FSX.  From the moment I used the program, it was obvious that it was developed by a real air traffic controller.

Well done, guys.  Thank you.

There are several treads in this forum that address that specific issue. Would recommend doing a search.

I looked at the recommendation about dlldownloader. My malawarebytes software popped up with a Trojan warning. I also found this on MS,

RC4 works with FSX, FSX Steam and all versions of P3D.

Ray, Would you kindly explain how to install it into P3D V4.4, I have a mate whom managed to have success but apparently he also has FSX installed, which I don't. We attempted to put it into the P3D main directory but no luck, it kept looking for FSX like a lost puppy! Any pointers would be gratefully received...and if I am ever in the UK again I would happily buy you a beer or 3...

PS I have tried searching this forum but no luck as yet...if I have missed a post please forgive me.

Cheers

Phil

Phil,

First of all you don't install RC4 into P3D. There is no requirement for it to be embedded in that program. I suggest you install to C:\RC4.

See how you go with that. I have RC4 running on another PC so all I needed to do was change the path to the P3D folder and the location of the flight plans.

If it complains it cannot find FSX.exe then create a text file in the main P3D folder and then rename it to fsx.exe. Some have said that works and others have said it's not necessary. Either way it should install.

You will probably get a message about FSUIPC. Just ignore it or allow RC4 to install its version but after the install has completed make sure you reinstall the latest FSUIPC5.

Twenty-one years ago, two Flight Simulator enthusiasts had a common wish, to improve the ATC in FS. A programmer in Atlanta met an Air Traffic controller in Memphis and we created a company called JDTLLC. We began working on Radar Contact which became the best FS ATC program available for many years. In 2001, after 6 years of work, Version 4.3 was released. Seventeen years later, after deep soul searching, we decided to give RC away for free, and step away from the business of supporting it.

As of January 1st, 2019, we will shutdown the web site, our email, our storage providers, and our e-commerce partner.

What this means to our existing customers, and future owners:

1. Radar Contact 4.3 will be available at no charge, by downloading it from my iCloud Drive. Here is the link.

2. JDTLLC will no longer generate keys. We will give you the same tool we use, the Key Generator.  You can download it from here.

3.  Radar Contact will be supported here on the AVSIM forum.

4. Refunds have already been issued to the customers who purchased RC in the last 3 months.

5. John and Doug will be available, as needed, at jdradarcontact@iCloud.com. Keep in mind, support will be handled here on the forum.

During these 21 years, we have encountered tens of thousands of customers, hundreds of supporters and contributors and dozens of beta testers. We will never be able to adequately express our deepest gratitude and thankfulness to each and every one of you.

All we can do is say, "Thank You".

JD BIG THANKS! I have wnated Radar Contact for many years just never could afford it. It worked first run after install and using the keygen you provided. I am very thankful I finally can use your software. I am a daily FS2004 virtual pilot. I fly in the PMDG 737NG and some HJG DC 10's. I use FSGenesis payware 38m mesh and Western Hemisphere 153m buffer mesh. I hope any new project is double or triple as successful as Radar Contact is. You and your team did astounding work on Radar Contact over the years. I see tons of hours of hard work in rcv4 programs folder. Thats 100,851 files in 2,995 folder total disk space usage of 1,33GB/1.13GB actual. That has got to be many hours weeks days months years of development.

BIG THANKS!

Hi everyone, I'm not sure whether this is the right thread, but I installed RC4 on Win10 yesterday, and it simply won't start. Nothing happens when I double-click the rc4 exe. I tried running as admin as well. The process won't show up in task manager at all. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you gone through the process of generating a key? Not seen this problem before.

As far as I understand, in order to generate a key I need to start RC4 to get to the registration screen first, but RC4 doesn't start at all.

Start again. Uninstall and reinstall. Install to C:\RC4 - not inside Porgram Files.
