The activation process is meant to be seamless and entirely automatic. If your yokes remain turned sideways that means that something has gone wrong (most likely your antivirus blocking the launcher's access to the servers) and the launcher wasn't able to authenticate your license. There's a troubleshooting channel in the Discord as well as a chapter in the launcher manual explaining what to do in this case. Thank you for your feedback! We'll see what we can do about that.

Those release notes have been like that since the summer, they don't get updated much. Are your yokes turned sideways?
