This is what other developers are doing as that way you can set the intensity as you desire and avoid the issues discussed on this topic. I wrote the White Papers for FS2004 and FSX lighting for MS/ACES back in the day. I have only been successful once in creating a custom landing/taxi light .fx file, and that only worked about four times before they quit working. I concluded that the actual 'ground splash' is not defined in the .fx file, but is internal to the sim and not subject to replacement. While I can easily concede that my conclusion is incorrect, I'll be darned if I can get anything working. The best I've managed is to get rid of the darned 'halo disk' that obscures my custom sealed-beam polygon at the light source. Fr. February 20, 20206 yr Father, why is it in P3dV4+ some models are way better than others when it comes to landing lights with the same settings? Someone has figured how to get around P3D? Edited February 20, 20206 yr by Adrian123

I totally understand you, working with effects is the most difficult thing you will encounter with any ESP engine base simulator and it has definitely made my hair grow thinner!. Dynamic lighting helps a lot to overcome many of the limitations you encountered before, this is how PMDG, Leonardo, Aerosoft, etc. are now implementing their lighting. S. February 20, 20206 yr Because of my PTA presets my Prosim lights ( LL , RL, TL ) were also very dim and almost no light beam on the runways/taxiways. That is because Prosim is not using fx_landing.fx :) which is what I am advising.. avoid using that effect as it gets overridden by P3D system core values. S.
