TrackIR 4 Pro and FSX

Featured Replies

Hi.After watching the video in these forums of the LDS 763 and TrackIR I have decided to order one for myself. I do have one question though, will it be compatible with FSX when it is released? I dont want to spend

There can be no definite answer to this at present but I understand your concern nevertheless. Even if it won't work immediately, I'd be very surprised if the developers didn't make it compatible.

I don't know if IsmetM is related to MS in any way, but quite a while ago, one of the developers mentioned that 1. Natural Point was in Seattle working on making TrackIR compatible with FSX, 2. That Natural Point used some very "unconventional" shall we say methods to access the graphics to get it to work, and 3. It was quite "broken" at the time. But this was last year some time, and my impression is that both parties would like it to work and were working hard to get it to do that.I must say I love my TrackIR 3 Pro, and when I get the money would definately like to upgrade to a TrackIR 4, or whatever is out at the time I purchase.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)

It should be noted that 'TrackIR' is a program running independantly of flightsim and as such, it will work with any game adapable to that program. It consists of a very small camera and a reflective clip. It dosen't effect frame rates in flightsim. FPS is better than that experienced using your 'top-hat' switch and, because it is amplifying your head movements, it is much much less drag on flightsim resources.

I attended Natural Point's presentation at IFC Denver and the answer is yes. The 4 pro looks great but I can find no reason to upgrade from my 3 pro.I wasn't real popular with the presenters when I told them that IMO TrackIR is useless with racing games and I run a lot of racing games. Besides the newer good racing games (GTR, GTL, ect...) all handle the situation better by allowing you to adjust how much your "head" will pan in the direction of the turn.I only use my 3 pro with FS. But that does not mean I don't like it... using it with FS is more than worth the price of admission! :)

And it looks like Test Drive Unlimited will have support for it too.

For WHATEVER reason, TrackIR 4 DOES affect my frame rates. I've tried many various types of tweaking tricks with my video card, FS9 config, and other things. When I have Track IR on, my frames go down, as simple as that. I'd love to love the program, because many of you feel you can't do without it. But using Active Camera and the Hat Switch on my joystick seems to be smoother and easier than trying to keep my head in a particular position while seeing my frames drop.I'd love to know a solution...if this has happened to you. Stan

Active Camera and TrackIR are not 100% compatible, did you know this? Everything was shaking until I disabled the roll axis in TrackIR. It wasn't smooth until I did that. I'm not sure if it was also casing a drop in frames rates but the biggest problem was the shaking.

I'll try this, but I don't think I had shaking...just jerky slow response when looking from side to side. Keeping the frame counter on, I could easily compare the same plane, at the same airport, with the same weather. When I turned Track IR off, the frames went up. Stan

Hi Vince, any chance you build an XBOX 360 adpater for the TrackIR as well? would be fantastic on a Wide Screen HD when not used on the computer for FS9/X !

We are currently looking into the console market.

The "tips and tricks" section for Track IR talks about inserting the Track IR Dll. in the Modules section of FS.I didn't see anything in the software install that referred to this.Exactly what dll are they talking about and how do you make sure it's installed properly? Stan
