August 1, 200619 yr in fact, I'm really (REALLY) scared about FSX's performance reports from different independent sources
August 1, 200619 yr Great find! Thanks.I probably won't purchase FSX until hardware is available that will run it smoothly with add-on traffic and other flight simulation-related programs.Howver, I will eventually purchase it, no doubt.RH
August 1, 200619 yr I second the concerns about the performance and the use of the dual-cores. I was under the impression that dual-core support was a done deal with FSX? If this turns out to be true, then it will certainly a major letdown, especially since dual-cores have just become more or less affordable mainstream in the past couple of months.Pat
August 1, 200619 yr I hope..TD or someone would come and say..that Multi core/HT is utilized in FSX.Hmmmm......Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
August 1, 200619 yr Commercial Member It would seem to make sense that if FSX is supposed to push the envelope of modern hardware capability (which MS continually state it does), that it WOULD include dual-core and GPU optimisation. If this turns out not to be the case, then I truly give up. Looking at FSX, it is clear that it is going to need as much GPU input as possible.
August 1, 200619 yr I give up. If you folks can't sort out credible from bogus information by this point... ;)
August 1, 200619 yr The comments that I have seen from known MSFT folks have been very vague on the topic but suggested that dual core on fsx would "work better than fs9". Being that AFAIK FS9 was single threaded, thats not saying too much. My question is why hasn't someone hit CTL-ALT-DEL on one of these demo boxes to see what is going on in this regard? Is that taboo or are the people that are hands on just too busy elephant watching? Run the sim in windowed mode with the task manager on screen. Thats what I would do.
August 1, 200619 yr Sorry that 'us folks' don't work on the inside. All we have to go off of is people that aren't under an NDA or that have inside info that they can give us.
August 1, 200619 yr He did, more than oncehttp://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=52385&highlight=

August 1, 200619 yr Sounds like mucho $$$ for hardware upgrade or new systems...none of MS system requirements have ever come close to running any version of the sim properly. And beta testers I am sure see this, but what effect do they have on the FS developers...I dont think much at all. We again will be the true beta testers except we pay for the privilege :-)Bill
