July 29, 200619 yr Does anyone know if the FS Scene Textures will work in FSX? They have a great deal going now for a package of all the textures... but will they work?Thank you,Steve from Indiana
July 29, 200619 yr I doubt FScene textures will improve FSX in any way, they were good for FS2002 and FS9 until BEV and Ground Environment arrived.
July 29, 200619 yr I thought I read somewhere that FSX had doubled the number of pixels that can be used for scenery bitmaps from 256 to 512. If that's so then I don't think that you would want to install FSScene or any other scenery tile bitmap texture replacements that were made for FS9 into FSX even if they are somehow compatible. It seems the the scenery bitmap upgrade for FSX could be considered fairly major as I think it has been at it's current resolution for quite a long time.I could be wrong about this though and perhaps someone who has more knowledge can/will correct me.Hope that helps,OneTinSoldier

July 30, 200619 yr Thank you very much. From what I read here, my guess is that the reason the price has been reduced so far is that its not going to help FSX or it will not be compatable.Steve
July 30, 200619 yr The reason the price has been reduced is because the market is becoming saturated and competition has increased, causing sales to drop.Simple as that.Whether or not FScene will or will not work in FSX and what effect it will have if it works remains to be seen.AFAIK Ruud doesn't have FSX at the moment (and he'd not be allowed to tell anyone if he did) so he can't try.Remember though that FScene2004 is a new product from FScene2002 which was new from FScene2000 because with every release things change.More textures with different names and functions. At best Ruud will likely have to rename some textures and make some new ones, at worst he has to start from scratch. Every texture he does is made by hand, every pixel placed by Ruud himself, there is no automated system generating them after which they may be optimised and tweaked.

Time for a bigger hard drive methinks! :-hah
