March 12, 20197 yr I have a chance to upgrade my GPU from a GTX760. I have an i7-4790K, 16 GB RAM, Win10/64 driving 3 x 1080p monitors all rendering outside-the-window window views. A second PC (i7-4770K with its own 3 monitors) is used for instrument panel and two more outside-the-window views). I run P3Dv4, ASP4, REX SF, and ORBX. I’m thinking upgrading the GPU to an RTX 2070, but might be persuaded to go to RTX 2080 or even 2080Ti ($😬) if the argument was compelling enough. Thoughts? Thanks!

What kind of argument are you looking for? It all depends on the settings you want to run to be satisfied with the visuals. Matt Wilson
March 12, 20197 yr Just a thought really: Recently upgraded from a 1080ti to 2080ti. Using also 4790K at 4.6ghz.. Using 4K monitor with 2 extra monitors for gps and wx etc.. I fly fsx, p3dv3.4, p3dv4.4 and xp11 The improvements are mostly in the visuals: you can increase the AA, increase the autogen, the LOD. Again, these are my observations with the above setup. March 12, 20197 yr Any of them (2070/2080/2080Ti) are going to be a major step up from that 760 in P3Dv4. I have a gaming box for driving and FPS games that has a 4790K @ 4.7 GHz and a 1080Ti, which is roughly at-par with the 2080, and I believe them to be a good match. The difference between the three cards in P3Dv4 will be mostly how much complex graphics and AA you can combine together...all three will do the job, but the higher end cards will permit more clouds, dynamic lighting etc at a given level of AA before the GPU hits the wall and starts dragging frame rates down and/or stuttering. The 2080Ti has 11GB of VRAM vice the 8GB in the other two...right now that would only be a factor if you wanted to run with very high quality terrain textures with your triple-monitor or a 4K configuration. It's anyone's guess as to whether P3Dv5 will make more use of VRAM. Upgrading from your current card to any of the 2000 series cards is going to be a dramatic improvement. I use a 2080ti and I would not want anything less. It is overpriced but it makes P3D shine. It just depends if u can justify the cost. I still have nightmares about paying that much for a GPU but I like my sim to look pretty. But a regular 2080 would be no slouch either. Matt Wilson

I do not have blurries or stutters. But I also have a 9700K. With your CPU I would still expect those issues. Matt Wilson
