Les,

Thanks again for that.

I have to say that just looking at those articles appears very daunting to me and I have no idea where I would start as I do not really possess any technical ability.

I just know it would be easier, albeit, much much more expensive, to just purchase a new CH TQ6 at AUD279 approximately or just replace my two Saitek/Logitech for approximately AUD180.  I am just a little concerned if I go with the Logitech approach, that they will both be USB connections in lieu of my existing package which is one USB and one connected directly to the Saitek Yoke and I am unsure if this will play well with FS9/P3Dv4 combo. I know it will work with XPlane 11.

However, I still have the Technician option as well as yours which gives me three options.  I will definitely explore the technician fix first as I have nothing to lose with that and it would prove to be the cheapest option as well (if he can fix it of course).

For those with any technical ability, I would urge you to go ahead with your video as I see that as a big step in actually improving the Saitek controllers. I read somewhere a long time ago where someone replaced the Saitek potentiometers with Hall Effect sensors but I cannot seem to find that again. That, in combination with your fix, would really improve these quadrants significantly and there may actually be a small market for a packaged product for the fix. I don't know really, but I do feel that you may be on to something.

Anyway, I cannot express how much I value your contribution.

Regards

Tony

If these guys ever start shipping -- This might be a reasonable alternative to the Saitek that would be nice...

Les,

I could not agree more. I really wish they were on the market now as I have basically stopped flying temporarily due to broken throttles. Therefore I am in need of an almost immediate replacement which takes Honeycomb off the list.

I have to say however, that my first alternative choice (finances permitting of course) would be the

FSXThrottle Quadro Pro, which, with some options comes out at AUD510.00 plus shipping to Indonesia and then MORE import taxes here. It just looks more solid and has everything I would require from a throttle quadrant. Warranty period for this product is not known to me. However, regarding warranty, Indonesia, with its import taxes and other abborations makes a mockery of any warranty claim made on any of these products.

At close to AUD100 cheaper ... shipping and taxes here extra of course, the Honeycomb still represents reasonable value and does feature the annunciator and autopilot functions, which I do not need. It also has a five year warranty which I believe is significantly better than the Logitech/Saitek warranty.

This places the Saitek/logitech twin throttle quads as the cheapest, and viable option, however inadequate in comparison it may be.

This of course, is ignoring the high end motorised throttle quads, but most of those I think are designed for twin engine jets and do not offer the versatility of the FSXThrottle, honeycomb or the Saitek/Logitech options but are far more realistic for those chasing that aspect of simming.

All of which just means that the options are many and varied and makes a decision to buy just that much more difficult.

I am still awaiting word on my throttle quad PCB fix and whilst I have high hopes, my expectations are at nowhere near the same elevation. I think really that my best option is to get my saitek replacements (I am for to OZ early next month for my annual medical and prescriptions) Until then I am not flying unless my "technician" can fix the PCBs.

Regards to all

Tony
