add-ons

Featured Replies

now that i have gotten confortable with fs9 now fsx, im wondering how many add-ons will work with fsx like level-d and pmdg, or will i have to wait for a patch or buy new planes.Thanks..Robert

We been talking with numerous developers for some time about what's in FSX and most of them will be on the Beta. Our goal is to have as many add-ons working with FSX as possible (even if they need small pathces).

Thanks for that insight there! It's good to see how well the add-on developers and the MS developers are working together. Dont forget (to the original poster) that PMDG has just announced in their forum here the updates/new releases that are around the corner for FSX. I can honestly say that from many of the screen shots shown already that there are some addons that I wont bother trying to put into FSX from FS9. Others I will!Eric

Well, Eric, considering the fact that ANY developer who MAY know any inside information about FSX and their ability to conform to it is no doubt bound by an NDA, and thus not legally able to say anything in public about it, I am wondering what add-ons you will NOT try putting in to FSX? ;-)Do not assume that because a developer is NOT mouthing off in public about FSX compatibility means that their add-on will not be updated / compatible. Then again, what would I know about FSX, aside from what has been stated in public? The same applies to PMDG. Very much the same. They know absolutely no more than DreamFleet does, and you can "take that to the bank". ;-)I would not make any decisions right now as to what will and will not be, and what you can and cannot put in to FSX.Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg

How can you know whether PMDG knows more than you do when you don't even know what you know yourself Lou?

At least make an attempt to make sure everyone else knows you might be being sarcastic there jwenting. Not everyone is from the UK (I say this because this is how our UK developers say stuff without the background info ). Just a guess you're from the UK, btw.Now is see why you get into confrontations so easiliy. :-) I say this out of friendship and respect, btw.

>How can you know whether PMDG knows more than you do when you>don't even know what you know yourself Lou?Oh, that's easy! We developers have secure back-channels of intra-company communications, a secret handshake, and even a Buck Rogers Secret Decoder Ring! ;)

Now see this is what I call a nice topic, nice sense of cameraderie, no being nasty with each other.

"Our goal is to have as many add-ons working with FSX as possible(even if they need small pathces)."We are content to wait until we are able to know more from MSFS regarding the future. Be advised that we do have an eye toward FSX and will make decisions on what will be ported when we know more:-)

No sir, I think that you might have taken my post the wrong way...maybe not. What I was commenting on was the fact that when I see screen shots of FSX, I question whether or not I will care to put in new versions of ground textures, road and highway info, and the like. It all looks very good. I have no doubt that I will put in custom aircraft and airports though. Wait...I must be silly...of course I will have to put in new ground textures! Someone will find a way to make them look better than the default-they always do. :-)
