Ruud Faber's FScene....

...is on sale for $20. Does the product still offer a significant upgrade today, considering it's over 15 years old?

Personally I think it does, especially for the price. A big improvement over stock FSX:SE and they are seasonal too. To get real accuracy regarding buildings & structures layout requires photorealistic scenery

If you haven't already done so, check out http://www.fscene.com/ for full details and videos etc.

Here's a couple of screenshots (if I may, mods?) from my flights, as examples too.

Although I don’t use it in FSX, I did use it in my FS9 days and it was a great improvement over that platform’s stock scenery. These screenshots certainly also seem to show a similar significant improvement within FSX which, although it may not quite reach the standard of something like Orbx Open LC scenery, is nevertheless a very nice overall makeover for a fraction of the price of the latter.
