Recommended Posts

Looking to upgrade system, currently get 25-30fps on ground at various airports, 80+ in air, ground can be a little slow to load at times depending on area. Fly mainly in Europe. Running aerosft airbus, GSX, orbx vector, orbx global, orbx Europe, PROATCX, active sky, REX, ultimate traffic live.

I tend to doubt that going from an Nvidia 950 to a 1050 would be much of an upgrade.  Yes, you will get more VRAM, but not much beyond that.  Upgrading to a 1080 would be a good upgrade, but that would put you right at the limits of your PSU and with a healthy overclock on your system, the PSU might not be sufficient.

Hi

I understand that you usually fly FSX SE.

First of all, today FSX or FSX SE only needs a low power GPU, for example: GTX750, GTX750Ti, GTX950, GTX1050Ti are enough to make fsx work decently, therefore, a GTX1050Ti 4GB is enough for FSX SE.

However, I would recommend that instead of buying a GTX1050TI 4GB you will buy a GTX1650 or a GTX1660 6GB.

if you upgrade from GTX950 to GTX1050Ti you will only gain a little bit of performance, besides the GTX1050Ti is already an old gpu with a little more money you can get the GTX1650 and get a bigger performance jump because the GTX1650 works like a GTX1060 3GB.

On the other hand, I would mostly recommend a GTX1660 6GB because it is the queen of the mid-range and 1080p, it yields a little bit more than the gtx1060 6GB and in the future your PC will be better prepared and you will be able to use other games.

With a GTX1650 or GTX1660 6GB you don't need a new PSU.

Here you have custom models:

GTX1650:https://videocardz.com/nvidia/geforce-16/geforce-gtx-1650

GTX1660: https://videocardz.com/nvidia/geforce-16/geforce-gtx-1660

In short, for almost the same money it is better to get a GTX1650 and if you can stretch a little more a GTX1660.

I would advise against a GTX1050, a 1060 is the bare minimum for it to be worth upgrading and ideally a 1080 if you're looking to move to P3D, Xplane or play other games. As an alternative, the GTX 1660 Ti mentioned by E69 is a good choice for those on a budget and doesn't need much power.

@ckyliu

Of course, a GTX1060 6GB is also recommended, my gpu is a gtx1060 6Gb and I can run FSX SE, P3DV4, XP11 and DCS decently, but at this time perhaps 1060 stock is very low and therefore is better to get a GTX1660 that has similar performance, by the way, I told about GTX1660 not GTX1660Ti, because I think Garlicbread prefer a ''good price GPU''.

However the GTX1660Ti is very good GPU, similar to GTX1070 but is a little bit expensive that is way I don't recommend it to Garlicbread.

Thanks the the advice. The1660Ti looks to be within budget, Will this be a noticeable improvement regarding loading textures and FPS?

@garlicbread11

I have my doubts about this, if I remember correctly the amount of fps depends on the cpu, but the speed with which the textures are loaded I don't know if it depends on the ram memory or the memory of the graphics card.

Without a doubt, if you bet on a gtx1660ti you will get high filters and the quality of the image will be very clear.

wait for the opinion of other people in the forum.
