January 15, 200620 yr Has anyone mentioned this? I did a search and found no sighting. Gamespy got some hands on with it already.http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/flight-simulator-x/679528p1.htmlStill no mention of physics processor support. I wish they could get that in there and offload all flight dynamics from the CPU.

January 16, 200620 yr "There are authentic road layouts, and you'll actually be able to fly over your hometown and navigate by the streets below."Why do I get this feeling I'm not going to be able to navigate MY home town with the help of accurately laid-out streets .. ;) My guess is the "reviewer" is extrapolating a small sample of a higher-detail area to global scale and forgetting that to get accurate, world-wide road network coverage is beyond a $50 PC simulator (where the road network data is not the ONLY price-deciding factor).
January 16, 200620 yr Near a small town in southern Finland :)I'm not sure what kind of road detail FS9 offers in this area by default, because I've installed a couple of freeware add-ons that improve Finland (including roads, I think). Wether its the add-ons or FS9's default data that plots the roads in the area, though, I can only see the larger ones and none of the streets that make up the town (nor the street I live on).Road network data for Finland is available in sufficient resolution for drawing all of the abovementioned streets, but I suspect it's not cheap :/

Could be UT may be one of them? Given tdraggers' comment below, kind of makes one hopeful of what's to come!Jim
January 16, 200620 yr "While flying around, he mentioned that the previous games featured unrealistically sterile environments"Very true! Quote from MS Flight Team Lead: "We’ve made some guesses"
January 16, 200620 yr Considering my area looked like 1920 out of the box in FS9 (tons of barns in Destin FL and near Eglin AFB), I hope MS gets it at least close this time around. http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...s/Mullins01.jpg"A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting."Don MullinsNiceville, FL.
January 16, 200620 yr What does it look like in Microsoft Map Point Europe? We're sharing the same data.
January 16, 200620 yr Considering that NavTeq and Tele Atlas databases are widely used in GPS road navigation systems in north america and europe, I see no particular barrier to MS having accurate road data, at least for those areas. I understand there are other systems in use in asia, I don't really know what the coverage is there. scott s..
