January 9, 200620 yr Barnyard Chickens?Pioneers like Orville Wright, advances in technology that took place with the onset of war, the famous flights of Lindbergh and Earheart during the golden age '20s that paved the way for transatlantic luxury passenger jets. The Jet engine, the flying boats, our understanding of weather, space rockets, helicopters, the moon landing .... ETC!!!. And now the dawn of Space tourism, pilotless aircraft and further advances in aviation/space technology the best we can do for a COF theme is chickens!?!?Seriously, this IS hilarious !!! :-lolPyjamas

How can anyone call themselves a "real " pilot without looking though a windscreen with "bug splat" allover it. Why, if it's heavy enough, you can even make an instrument approach when flying into the sun. If FSX doesn't have this, I will never buy it... It's Bug splat or else........ ;)

I like the inclusion of birds as they are very much a part of the fligth environment and I think that bug splatter would actually increase the immersion factor greatly.J- Jeff Bea I am an avid globetrotter with my trusty Lufthansa B777F, Polar Air Cargo B744F, and Atlas Air B748F.
January 10, 200620 yr Quote by archtx:-------------------------------------------------------------------Not to beat the poor chickens to death, but here's another viewpoint. The chickens are an effect file. I learned some animation tricks from that one. Someday, someone more clever than I, might carry that foward to animated passengers boarding the plane, or some such. I too didn't spend a lot of time flying thru the barn....but got some benefit from those scattered fowl. Also, you might have noticed, they are keyed to a sound file, which opens up other possibilities in FSX when using effects for something other than fireworks, etc. In FS9 the sound effects are very limited, but I am intrigued by the possibilities of being able to trigger sounds in the same manner as other effects. I have found the FS9 adventure language some what difficult to master....as have apparently others, judging by the number of adventures written for the program, perhaps effect files could be a "work around" for some of the simpler adventures. -------------------------------------------------------------------You mind telling me how you managed to make the chickens animate? I found the effects file in the "Effects" directory and write a scenery BGL file, but I couldn't see crap as the result. It'd be interesting to see what those files actually do.Anyways...I just saw that interview on gamespot that featured the new Bell JetRanger and I saw flocks of geese in the scenery. I for one am extremely pleased to see that they've added to the immersion of reality within the simulator. It would be fantastic to see the next release include bug splat on the windshields! LOL!
January 10, 200620 yr Yes this is hilarious. I like the chickens. They say rattlesnake tastes like chicken too, but I've never tried rattlesnake. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

January 12, 200620 yr I know that bug splatter on the windscreen was brought up as a joke, but I think that it is a good idea. If you've spent any amount of time in an aircraft during the summer months, you are very aquainted with the amazing number of bugs that you run into. Heck, small GA aircraft are often referred to as "bug smashers" for a reason. :( As a parallel, NASCAR Racing 2003 by Sierra was the last installment of that game. One of the pieces of eye candy that they threw in was the windshield getting progressivly dirty during a tire run due to the little bits of rubber that get kicked up during a race. When you'd come in to pit, as in real life, the windshield tear-away would be pulled off by a member of your crew, and you'd have a clean windshield again. This small little addition adds a lot to the immersion factor while playing that game.Tim13PS... Chicken is good and good for you.

Ten seconds after flying into a swarm and you're suddenly looking at a completely opaque windscreen! That's about the time you think, "darn, I really should have gotten my IFR rating!" *:-* Fr. January 12, 200620 yr I don't really have a problem with all these extra features... the only thing I was complaining about was the fact that all these extras were the only info we were getting, I would rather hear about the real meat of the new game instead of hearing how many birds we can hit or dolphins to accidentally run over when flying amphibian planes... which is cool and adds to the game BUT is not a big necessary part, I would rather hear about all the stuff to be fixed and added that makes it more of a flight simulator rather than a game like crimson skies
