September 1, 20196 yr Hello Folks; The issue I have having is I can't seem to find a big enough gate that would accommodate the PMDG 747-8 to work with FSDT GSX for FSX. Any "Heavy" gate I park at and select GSX support I get an error message stating that the gate is too small for the -8 to accommodate the GSX support. I am using the FlightBeam KSFO so I am hoping that someone out there may have had the same issue and finally found a gate out of the numerous ones listed that works. I am beginning to think that it may only work in an large open area where there are no gates and has a huge open space. Thanks. Forshaw.
September 1, 20196 yr Hey Forshaw, What I tend to do in these situations is make the allowed wingspan of the gate larger. Just park the 748 at a seemingly suitable gate and go into the gsx settings menu related to parking. There you will see a number for allowed wingspan in meters. By clicking on the button next to it (I’m not behind my computer, so don’t know the exact layout) the size will be changed to that required by the 748. Good luck Jack
September 1, 20196 yr I use gate A9. Like Jack says, go into the GSX "Customize parking" menu, select the spot in the list on the left side, and then set the wingspan in GSX to 80m, and then click "Apply." From then on GSX will treat the spot as large enough for the 747-8. September 1, 20196 yr Author Fantastic, thanks folks I really appreciate it. I know there had to be a way to address this. Thanks again. Best Regards Forshaw.
September 25, 20196 yr You should be able to find gates that can handle 747's in the E and F terminals, and some in A Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
September 25, 20196 yr Or you can download airport design editor install the sdk of P3D or FSX open the afcad of the airport and change the radius 65 m or more but do it in the parking spot that can handle the dimension of the 748 otherwise the pushback will go crazy. Then compile the afcad with the same name and same folder. Every airport have an Afcad by changing the radius you solve the problem at once with ADE even with other airframes otherwise you have to check GSX tool and do it for every spot http://www.scruffyduck.org/airport-design-editor/4584106799 Edited September 25, 20196 yr by simbio

Don't remember the others offhand since I am not a home with access to my FSX PC. Thanks for the information on the E and F terminals will take a look once i get back home from my trip. Cheers. I will use it as a last resort if I can't find a suitable gate for the -8. i don't want to change the radius unless I have to. I have been finding gates that accommodate the -8 so far since I only use a hand full of airports which are all add-on and new. But you never know. Thanks again. Forshaw.

That's way too much...I generally use 40m (80m diameter) as a good round number for the -8. The potential gotcha with modding airport (aka ADE/AFCAD/AFX) files is that scenery updates often overwrite your changes, and some scenery management software (like Orbx FTX Central and FSDreamteam's Live Update) will unceremoniously restore the original ADE when they run. User GSX customizations, on the other hand, are left alone. I often do the exact opposite, setting a few preferred parking spots in an ADE to 5m and then setting the radius in the GSX customization menu to the proper size--this prevents AI from parking there, in effect creating a reserved spot. But I keep a copy of the ADE file in a subfolder under the scenery folder so that I have a copy I can restore if an update removes/overwrites it.
