PMDG DC-6 module

Featured Replies

I have installed the DC-6 module, and I'm having problems with the aircraft specific functions. The dc-6 is detected and synced by LINDA. I've noticed that all of the default FSX controls that I've assigned in the fsx default profile show up as Black instead of the slightly grayed out green that is typical in the aircraft specific modules (even though I have not assigned them individually in the DC-6 profile itself).  Some of those functions that are assigned to the default fsx profile appear to work on the DC-6, however none of the specific DC-6 functions seem to work (for example landing lights extend or retract). As far as I can tell all of the other modules I have installed are working correctly

I'm using LINDA ver. 3.0.12.810

Prepar3d ver. 4.5.12.30293

FSUIPC ver. 5.152

Thanks,

Mark Hager

The default FSX assignments will appear as green if no overriding function is assigned for the selected and sync-ed aircraft. When an overriding function is assigned the function name turns black. If you don't want the Default FSX functions then you need to Remove Assignment for that aircraft.

I may not have explained my situation well enough. I do expect (and want) the default functions to show up as green. What is happening instead, is that simply by installing the DC-6 module, all of those functions show up as black (as if they had been individually re-assigned over themselves). This occurs without changing anything at all in the DC-6 module. Let's say we're starting from a clean slate. Only P3D and Linda installed. I assign some default functions to the default aircraft. Everything is fine. Now I install the PMDG DC-6, and the DC-6 Linda module. I start P3D, and load a default plane. Everything is fine, and the functions show up as green. Now I load the DC-6. Linda recognizes the DC-6, and switches to that module.  I have not assigned any aircraft specific functions. All of the default functions that I had assigned previously (in the default aircraft) are showing up and working, but they all show up as black, not green or even the faded green.  Any DC-6 function such as extend the retractable lights also show up as black, but do not work.

I should clarify for my last sentence in the previous post, all the default functions showed up black even though they were working. This is the case before I assigned any dc-6 module functions.  I then assigned the first function specific to the DC-6 module, and the default functions still work, but the dc-6 functions do not.

I believe I've fixed  most of my issue. The DC-6 module comes with the folders DC-6 and DC-6B. The actual PMDG aircraft itself uses DC-6A and DC-6B. I changed the Modules/linda/aircrafts/PMDG DC-6 folder to PMDG DC-6A. I then changed the ident.lua file in that folder to read simfolder="PMDG DC-6A". I then changed the Module/linda-cfg/aircrafts/PMDG DC-6 folder to PMDG DC-6A. Finally, the actions.lua file under Modules/linda/aircrafts/PMDG DC-6B was empty, so I copied the one from the PMDG DC-6A folder, and all seems to be working.

I'm still having the issue where button assignments are showing up black when they shouldn't be, and now even green when they should be black, but they all work in the sim.

That helps explain your problem. The module called by LINDA is defined by the first unique alphanumeric string contained in ident.lua. For the PMDG DC-6A and DC-6B this would be "PMDG-DC6". You can edit this my selecting the aircraft and clicking on EDIT. Editing the Aircraft Search String will display those aircraft in P3D that match. You do not need to have separate folder for each aircraft variant.

For example, the aircraft search string Aerosoft A3 will pick up all these variants:

That would have been an easier way. 🙂

The DC-6 module in your downloads section does come with the two folders, DC-6 and DC-6B. As mentioned above though, there are no lua scripts in the DC-6B actions.lua.

I spent a few hours last night flying instrument approaches in the DC-6 while flipping switches and manipulating the autopilot thanks to your program and module. I can't thank you enough for how much this improves the immersion in the game. Well done! Donation incoming. 🙂

Hello,

I have tested the download right now and get everything as it should be. There is only one "PMDG DC-6" folder. Inside this folder you have the files you need like actions.lua, ident.lua, readme.txt etc.

If you have a look inside ident.lua, you will see it refers to only the PMDG DC6 with no difference in DC6 B or A

Can you have a look at the download again, please?

My apologies, you are absolutely right. I have no idea how I managed to goof up my installation so bad (perhaps some linda editor bafoonery?) Sorry for making you spend time on that!

Old thread....

I don't see the water pumps listed anywhere in the action.lua or txt listing, is there no way to map controls to the water injection pumps?

Unfortunately I am not in a position to look at your question as I do not own the DC6 and the original author is no longer supporting LINDA development.
