Help - Saitek Modal Switch with new 'Shifted' keys
I can't seem to get it to work in any way other than the way #1 you described. I've tried it on different buttons to make sure there wasn't something wrong with the "trigger" button on my CH yoke. So for button one, on press, I have Global shift. Button one, on release, I have global shift, but it still operates as your way #1. Pressing it a second time "unshifts" the controllers. I've tried assigning the same thing for button one on the shifted 1 page and unshifted page, then I tried it with button one set up this way on all three pages, still operates as way #1. I've also tried all those setups with global shift set up "on repeat" also, still operates like way #1. I'd really like it to operate as your way #2, but I can only seem to do that with local shift. Sorry if I'm being a pain, but I would like to be able to keep a hand on the yoke to hand fly, while shifting what the other joysticks do (and be sure that they aren't shifted if I'm not holding the trigger). Thanks for your help, and thanks for the program! -Wreck

More on Saitek mode switch and Linda 2.5.7
I'll second RAYP's request for two global modes if possible. Thank you very much by the way, for an amazing program. It's brought my cockpit experience to a new level of fun. -Wreck

Help - Saitek Modal Switch with new 'Shifted' keys
Scot, I'm having an issue with the shifting. I'm using version 2.5.7. What I'm trying to do is have a button on my CH Flight sim yoke (left trigger button) be a shift key for all other joysticks. This works fine if I "toggle" global shift, but what I'm looking to do is have the other joysticks also shifted while holding down the trigger, and not shifted while I'm not holding it down. You seemed to describe how to do that in your edited post, but no matter what combination of global or shift(1) or shift(2) I try, I can't get this to work. I've tried different combos of repeat, release, neither of those, unshifted, etc., but can't make it work. Any idea what I might be doing wrong? EDIT: It appears that "on release" has no effect on Global shift. For example, with the trigger I'm trying to use, I set "on press" to toggle the smoking sign, then I set "on release" to also toggle the smoking sign. Works as I would think it should, even pressing the button rapidly in succession, the smoking sign always flips up then immediately back to the original position. If I press and hold the trigger, it flips once and stays until I release (as I would expect), even if I push another button on another joystick while holding it (and the function on the other joystick works while the trigger on the yoke is being held). It seems that Global shift is only toggling with the on press function. Any way to change this?

RSR keynote at Avsim FANCON *NOW* !
Spook, Don't ruin this for the rest of us. If you are so sure they said they were going to provide a release date, show us the quote.

I would not have believed it without this video
Elevator must've been in a nose up position, while the other one wasn't I guess.

VNAV/LNAV APP or ATC.
ATC uses arrivals to reduce the amount of calls they have to make on the radios, and also to simplify their job of sequencing planes when it starts to get busy. All of the above comments are pretty spot on...ATC is not required to keep the airplanes on these routes, and often will clear the aircraft direct to points farther down the arrival if this won't cause a conflict. As far as them changing the approach you have been assigned, yes, normally you would update your FMC to reflect those changes. This will become easier for you as you do it more often. Hope this helped, Mark

So FS2Crew
+1Bought FS2Crew for the NGX after reading this post in the forum. WELL worth it, if you have the money. My wife is now numb to me spending money on FSX, so I didn't have that issue, but this program is just absolutely great! Big props to Bryan as well for supporting his product so well (AKA getting it to work with FSPassengers, even though the issue wasn't caused by his program) I'll be buying other versions of FS2Crew as my money supply gets bigger. :)

Interesting waypoint names
I always kind of liked the CRAZY WOMAN VOR. There are a LOT of arrivals and departures with funny sequences of words. Atlanta has the BUNNI arrival, with DUMBB and BUNNI in sequence. A lot of the RNAV departures out of KATL reference sports teams like the Braves, Falcons, UGA (blech) Bulldogs, and GT Yellow Jackets. (WooHoo)I've also seen on US High charts HEVAN. So you might one day proceed direct HEVAN.

Landing problems
Does this happen at any runway / airport? Only thing I noticed is that you are way too low when landing. Try staying a bit higher on landing... I kind of doubt it will help this problem, but worth a shot.

FS Passanger X, dos i work with PMDG 737NGX?
Actually, my posts are more basic on how to load fuel, and things like that...don't think my post would help with your turbulence issue, but if you still need basic help I'll be glad to repost....

Undocking problem
I had this problem too. I have two different types of video cards (both nvidia). I looked in the FSX.cfg file, and noticed that there were several different listings of video cards (see the below example that I kinda remade from what I can remember) even though I physically have only two cards.[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+.0]Mode=1024x768x32[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 210.1]Mode=1024x768x32[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 210.0]Mode=1024x768x32[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 210.2]Mode=1024x768x32I removed two of the entries for the GeForce 210 cards, and I stopped getting black screens on my undocked windows.Hope this helps! On my computer, if you save a flight with the windows undocked, they should be in that position when you load the flight later.

I can't figure this out...
I can only speak about my experience...Cessnas, Pipers, and Lear 35s, but I've never flown an aircraft that goes perfectly straight down a runway. In real life, you have to constantly correct left and right while on the takeoff roll, with or without winds etc. I would just make the small corrections, and chalk this one up to "realism".

I still can't land this thing properly..please help
If I might add my .02...Although most of the advice given above is Technicaly correct, it's too technical. Of course you need to know procedures, speeds, etc... but there is also a point when you just have to look out the window and fly the airplane. You've told us you've had bad landings, and a few people hit the nail on the head...practice makes perfect. Try to get a mental picture of what the runway looked like when you flared too early, too late, etc. There is a reason for IFR minimums on approaches, pilots need to SEE what is going on through the windows to make good landings...don't get TOO focused on your instruments when you're trying to set the airplane down.Hope this helps...

I can't figure this out...
How badly is it deviating? Just a degree or two off centerline, or is it wildly turning to one direction or the other? A couple ideas...One, when you line up on the runway, do you let the aircraft roll for a short distance in a straight line, or do you have the nosewheel turned when you come to a stop? If it's the latter, that could be your problem, as the nosewheel may not recenter while the aircraft is stopped. If it's only a slight deviation left or right, then this is one point where the simulator may be accurate. Most airplanes don't go straight as an arrow without control inputs.Hope this helped at least a little bit.

Once and Twice?
I would guess he's checking gauges on both sides of the aircraft, meaning both the captain and co-pilot panels. I don't have the DVD you're talking about, but for example, maybe "Altimeter....checked once and twice".Sound reasonable?

FS Passanger X, dos i work with PMDG 737NGX?
It DOES work with FSPax. Go to the FSPassengers forum, and I have a couple posts there on how to do it. If you can't find it, search by my forum name: wreck1463

PMDG Forgot this
+1I fly RW Lear 35s and 36s, and it's the same thing with those....countless numbers of changes that Lear went through in the production run, and amendment kits that "retrofitted" older lears with newer systems. In our fleet of lears, I always have to take a min. to look around the cockpit before we start up to "see what I've got today".

Oil levels dropping on pause.
I have had the oil quantity quirk happen as well. I'm wondering if it's with service based failures turned on.

Airtran
Do you mean Southwest is taking over, or they just won't do the run anymore? I live 10 min. from PHF, and travel to ATL a lot....that would stink!!!

EMDP overheat bug
I've had this same issue...seems to happen if i "load" a flight at FSX startup, rather than create a new free flight. Seems EVERY time I load a flight I get the overheat lights. I'll try turning the electric pumps off before shutdown. Maybe that will help? Edit:The Fuel Temp is pegged full hot when I get this error. SO, any idea why I'm getting hot fuel after loading a flight? Guess the Hyd problem is an indirect issue for some of us, possibly caused by hot fuel. Edit 2:Seems a few others figured this out before me. So it's definately an issue with fuel temp being pegged hot when loading flights rather than creating flights. At least there's an easy workaround of loading cold and dark panel state. I'm enjoying the heck out of this airplane!

FMC: No descent path after ....
Well Thanks to both of you then. I agree with the above comment, you all have excellent customer service. At least from me, it will pay off for you. I'm hooked on your aircraft now...

APU
Also, there seems to be an issue with panel state loading. If you try to start the APU and it won't run, try switching it back to OFF, then try one more time to restart it. This seems to work for some people (including me).
