GNS530 V2 Database Update

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a copy of the TERRAIN.TDB and worldwide.bin files they can share from the GTN Trainer from version 6.01.1, before the format was changed with version 6.21.1? I think version 6.01.1 was the last iteration that worked plug-and-play with the reality xp gauge and it was from 2016. A lot changed in the WAAS world between the provided database date of 2009 and 2016.

I looked everywhere online for the GTN trainer version 6.01.1 and it doesnt exists anymore. Only 6.21.1 is available.

Thanks!

I don't think you'll have much luck for two reasons - the databases are still Garmin's property even though they're expired and you might be running foul of Avsim's TOS by posting your request.

Not sure what the value is of those two databases.. the actual geography does not change much in 7 years..

The navdata  is the one that changes monthly..

Edit: Correction... The second database is the one you want.  The first one stays the same.

I was under the impression that when you update that worldwide.bin file, then procedures like newer departures and approaches show up in the reality xp 530 unit? When the database is from 2009 then some airports that do have RNAV approaches say there are none. I thought worldwide.bin would partially fix that, at least to the date it was current to. Maybe that’s not correct though?

Yes, the database that you want to update is called worldwide.bin.

If you have access to real world Garmin unit, you may be able to copy over a file copy and use it in your simulator.

I know this thread is a bit old, but is there a way to update the navdata in the 530? I sent an email to Garmin and was pleased to get a reply, but was just advised to contact Realityxp.  I am frequently looking for waypoints that the 530 does not have in its database.  I would pay for uupdated navdata.

Thanks.
