September 19, 20196 yr I started in the 80s as well, probably used FSX the longest, but now a very happy P3DV4.5. user.. Bert
September 20, 20196 yr Psion Flight Simulator for ZX Spectrum was my first (Christmas 1982) The first flight simulator that I used extensively was Flight Simulator 2 for the Commodore Amiga 500 (Christmas 1988). This was then followed by Microsoft Flight Simulator 4.0b when I purchased my first PC in January 1992. What followed was very much a mixed bag. I was personally extremely disappointed with Microsoft Flight Simulator 5 (the terrain graphics were terrible), but (like an i d i o t) I carried on hoping that they would get it right with FS95/FS98/FS2000. Frankly, I was not impressed with any of them, so I gave up on the MSFS series until 2008 (when I got myself a copy of FSX). Fortunately for me, Looking Glass Studios released Flight Unlimited 2 in December 1997 (which was far more impressive to me than MSFS at the time), and then Flight Unlimited 3 (which I used almost exclusively between 1999 and 2008). These two were far more atmospheric and enjoyable to me than the rather sterile, unrealistic world depicted in the MSFS series at that time. I returned to Microsoft's world (FSX) when good quality UK photoscenery and airports/airfields started to appear (Horizon/UK2000), and I used that until I upgraded to P3D v2.3 (I think this was around September 2014). I have used P3D ever since, and am currently flying in v4.5.
