Which is still quite high. Correct me if I’m wrong. I intend on keeping hyper threading on also regards mike Looks good! I have experimented "a little" with Core0 at 5.0, and the other cores at 4.7 or 4.8. I can't say I experimented enough to come to any conclusion as to in-sim performance. It's a small difference I would think, and probably not worth doing unless heat/stability is an issue. As to running HT on with a 9900K, again, I don't own that cpu, but I've seen many who do, get better results in the sim with HT=off. But again, this is highly dependent on all of your other components and your settings, so you'll have to play with it to see what is giving you the smoothest experience. Anyway let us know what your results are. It's always good to have another data point. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
October 18, 20196 yr On my system HT off all 4cores are in use no AM used, locked at 30FPS and in the heavy areas like EGLL I have seen 2 cores at 100%. I know I am CPU bound but I will wait till new year to upgrade possible maximus extreme Z390 and a i9900KS. Edited October 18, 20196 yr by rjfry Raymond Fry.

Those single core boosts don't matter anything in constant, high load environments like P3D. Locking them at 5GHz will give you a noticeable difference, that is if your CPU and rest of the system can handle it. Overclock with care and don't try to chase higher speeds if returns are severely diminishing.

Yes but P3d does not use for instance 8 cores on my i9 at 5ghz at it’s full potential? so what’s the point?

I mean, yes, there is a point of diminishing returns (i.e. 12 cores isn't necessarily better than 8 at the present time). How do you define "full potential"? If every core on your cpu were at 100% usage, your sim would run very poorly. It would stutter and have blurries. If you are not seeing every core pegged at 100%, then, that is actually IDEAL. When your main thread core pops 100%, you have a high chance of a stutter. If your terrain loading cores hit 100%, you increase your chance of the blurries. You don't want them at 100%. November 7, 20196 yr I'm about to make the leap from an I7 4790k to an AMD 3800x, a non too expensive upgrade as my son has a spare G/B Auros ultra X570 M/B,plus I'm upgrading the memory from 16GB 2400mhz DDR3 to 32GB 3200mhz DDR4 so when I get around to building it i'll report back. Anyone have any idea of what FPS boost I can expect? It heavily depends on your addon set and how much you want to crank your settings. Best set a minimum performance requirement and then crank it up until you hit that minimum and then fly.
