PMDG 777 texture question

For now it's 747 or QW787.

I don't mean to judge or bash QW787, but do you only fly in exterior view? QW787 has got nothing on PMDG777, systems wise that is.

And don't take it as me disliking QW787. I own that aircraft and use it from time to time. You get your money's worth with it, but it is too lacking for my taste with essential systems and bugs remain unfixed while they focus on vanity.

are you a real 787 pilot?  How do you know it's lacking in systems?  have you flown a 777?

I agree Evros.  Systems wise much more complete for PMDG.  Like you I fly the 787 occasionally.  My goto is the 747.  Every now and then the 787 is nice.  But the 777 will rarely get the call.  For what it's worth I think the virtual cockpit textures are also lacking.  One thing I'll mention is that I don't fly with failures on.  So the full breadth of failures that PMDG has made are lost on me.

I don't think I need to be one to appreciate the systems depth and presence. There are too many examples to draw from so I won't dive in to all of them, but I guess I could bring out a few to makes an example. PMDG has properly acting hydraulic system, fuel system (with fuel temperature regulation), FMC that is fully functional and so on. What I like is the depth of those system and how they interact with each other and affect aircraft in all aspects. If you are not in to that level of systems simulation then that is okay with me, but I am, and flying QW787 never leaves me as satisfied as PMDG products do.

With QW, lots of dynamic analog system are either on or off, with some of the essential functionality missing. I am not going to list them here because it is beyond the scope of this topic and might just create an impression that I am some sort of a shill for PMDG, when the truth couldn't be further from it. If you would like my insights in to it then we can take it to private message for example.

I hear you. I am not overly sad about lack of failures from QW787, but I certainly appreciate their presence whenever I can. For example, my 77L is currently stranded in Crown Point due to APU failure and that airport does not have jet air starter.

Also I should add that most likely I am at least somewhat partial to 777. It has been my favorite big bird for as long as I have taken interest in aviation.

I haven't driven a Lamborghini, but I did drive a replica made out of a Fiero once, and I can tell you that even without direct experience driving a Diablo, the Shamborghini lacked a great many features of the real car experience.

I will say, I just loaded up the Air New Zealand livery from inibuilds and it looks far better than any other pmdg 777 model I've elected to fly.  For comparison I opened the PMDG American (new and old livery) and thought they almost looked a generation apart.
