Mesh in FS2020

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any ideas as to how the new sim will work with mesh?  Will we still have generic mesh resolution and then more detailed resolution options or do you think the mesh will simply render true, globally.     It seems to be the latter

The mesh looks excellent in teasers we’ve seem so far.  I would nonetheless  expect some  higher resolution patches for some landmarks (craters, tricky waterfalls etc.).

It does but good enough to replicate the Victoria Falls area for instance ? I don’t know...

Presumably 2 petabytes of streamed data should also incorporate mesh elevation points everywhere?  Presumably also, if they are to achieve accurate sloping runway terrain, then the mesh resolution would have to be at least 5m resolution for airports?

Just like textures, you're not gonna get the entire globe at one level of resolution. It depends on what data is available and how undulating the terrain in that area is. I think MFS20 is likely to all but kill off mesh upgrades though, if it even supports BGL mesh to start with, the screenshots suggest there isn't much room left for improvement.

A fine mesh all right. I am all for it. But what about moving sand dunes in the Sahara ?
