The big data points would be real-world transcripts from control comms, transponder/gps data, weather, and charts. I don't think any are hard to get given the online resources that dish them up for free. I'm thinking a machine watching an airport with tons of traffic (LAX for example) for a couple months worth of data and a human babysitter could do the trick. Do the same thing with enough airports, small and large, and you could feasibly start applying realistic ATC to airports without any prior training for that location... The way I'd handle real-world traffic, is when an aircraft enters controlled airspace, it gets handed to the ai controller, which should in theory direct traffic much like a real-life controller would, because its already studied gazillions of real-life situations. Pretty much how Testla is teaching their vehicles autonomous navigation. Someone mentioned different traffic handling depending on congestion, and it would do that. Same with weather conditions and any other real-life scenario it could observe through data. It would be a huge undertaking, but given unlimited resources, budget, and computational power (cloud), its how I'd approach it. Interesting approach, I have to say this would be the best idea so far regarding ATC in my opinion. Add accents and there you go 🙂

November 15, 20196 yr Tbh i preffer human ATC over AI cause its way more immersive and thats what i am looking for when playing a flight sim. For offline mode they should have a very good build in ATC but for multiplayer they should include a "do whatever u want mode" (free roam) and a platform like vatsim or ivao integrated in only one network. Getting in this network should requiere a more complicted process to avoid trolls and people who dont know the basics. Edited November 15, 20196 yr by papaja
September 12, 20205 yr MSFS 2020 ATC is fine for just starting the simulator, but for me Pilot2atc is now the option I fly with. It is a little buggy but I think that will improve. A couple of issues so far........ The gates in MSFS do not match real world gates so p2atc does not know where you are at the airport. P2atc does not pick your aircraft up as the primary yellow ac to be followed however it does show your ac as an AI red ac.
