The major stumbling block is the percentage of users who have VR hardware, which is still low (crazy, I know). It's why companies like Microsoft and Rockstar can do odd things like release a title in 2019/2020 without VR support. I would hope in the near future it will be commercial suicide to release a flightsim without VR support, but we're certainly not there yet.
