December 4, 20196 yr Hi Steve, what am do you recommend for 9900k with ht on? 5460 Good? or is there better? Edited December 4, 20196 yr by christb Win 11 pro 64Bit, X670 AORUS ELITE AX, Ryzen 7 7800x3d, RTX 4080, 64Gig G-Skill 6000 DDR 5, Samsung 990 pro 2TB NVME.
December 4, 20196 yr Commercial Member I would try AM340 any four cores first. Adding a fifth or sixth may be worthwhile so give it a try. It depends on the system. Corral addon exe's into the unused cores a minimum of 2 LPs per exe. 5460 using six cores six LPs is a good idea. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
December 4, 20196 yr Copy that, thank you Win 11 pro 64Bit, X670 AORUS ELITE AX, Ryzen 7 7800x3d, RTX 4080, 64Gig G-Skill 6000 DDR 5, Samsung 990 pro 2TB NVME.
December 4, 20196 yr Tried 4,5 and 6 LPs. 6 feels best in loading and quickness, and smoothness. Thank you. Edited December 4, 20196 yr by christb Win 11 pro 64Bit, X670 AORUS ELITE AX, Ryzen 7 7800x3d, RTX 4080, 64Gig G-Skill 6000 DDR 5, Samsung 990 pro 2TB NVME.
December 4, 20196 yr This is in line with my experience, although my 8700K does not offer more cores. Best results I get with AM=1365, enabling all LPs on my six core HT CPU. Those who turn off HT due to heat, I have two questions that always bother me: 1. why the heck you buy a more expensive CPU with HT but then turn it off? If you do not want HT for anything, buy the 9700K... 2. why the heck do you think that 100-200MHz more makes a difference? I mean, running the CPU with HT off on 5.1GHz while with HT on "only" 5.0GHz (or 4.9GHz) would be possible, is just... well, ridiculous? Those 100-200MHz are 2-4% clock rate difference, even if 100% of this clock difference would be transformed into performance in P3D, it would mean: 26 instead of 25FPS, 52 instead of 50FPS. Or in other words: nothing ;-) Verdict: for the sake of a fluent and properly running sim, turning off HT simply does not make sense. Not at all. You gain nothing but you loose probably pretty much.
