December 4, 20196 yr The sense of scale. It really matters for flight sim. This is actually one of the most facinating aspects of VR. I still remember the first time I flew above Italian Alps, it's such a mind blowing experience I can never forget. From that time on I know flight simulation must have that sense of scale, otherwise it's not real. And the new MSFS brings about so much more that needs the sense of scale. The new weather system, for example, could be so much more atmospheric with the sense of scale.
December 5, 20196 yr So true! This also plays a role in racing games, it is a huge difference whether you overtake a 30cm tall opponent on a standard 2d monitor or see the opponent's car in real scale in VR! in VR you can experience very tight, claustrophobic cockpits, something you can't on a standard monitor, everyone looks the same size, track ir doesn't change that either.
December 5, 20196 yr I noticed this especially in something like Elite dangerous, when you're Flying up to a Starbase and realize just how freaking enormous it is. Seeing it on flat monitor and aknowleding mentally that it's big is nothing compared to actually having the thing looming over you like a mountain in 3D....... We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. December 5, 20196 yr Same goes for the cockpit. You can only exerience the actual (mostly surprisingly small) cockpit size in VR.
