Desktop is easier. 1) buy SATA to USB adaptor cord ($8 or so) and plug new drive into laptop USB port. 2) Run cloning software old internal cloned onto your new drive.* 3) Immediately remove old internal drive and plug the new drive into the laptop. 4) Optional: Buy case ($9 or so) Take just removed old drive and put into that case to use as auxiliary USB drive. Or put the old drive in a desktop computer bay in order to have another drive in the desktop system. * There are freeware cloning software to download and use. Check the online do it yourself tutorials to understand the procedure. December 10, 20196 yr Must be sold out. Only options for 1 TB is from 55 "other sellers". Also, that version is vintage 2017. Understand a 2017 SSD is still good... But is far from the latest. Also, caution: clones from some cloning software may not be bootable when swapped if the two SSDs are of different vintage. I can personally attest to that. I use Acronis. Purchased version.
