SSD migration: FSX asks me to activate again

Featured Replies

Hello,

I hope I dont get swatted for asking that: I recently migrated my FSX installation to an SSD using Partition Wizard and now FSX asks me to reactivate.

After 7 years with that installation I just dont have the booklet anymore. Are we really still required to take the re-activation dialogue so seriously that I need to buy another copy now in some virtual junkyard to be able to run FSX again?

Well if you have to get another copy, Get FSX-SE you'll be glad you did in the end.

I dont want to reinstall anything here, the whole purpose of using partition wizard was to keep my installation as it is and get it to SSD, this is supposed to be my final setup before FS2020 gets released.

You can phone Microsoft and they will talk you through a fix for this, I've done this several times because of hardware updates which deleted my registration key entries, surprised me how easy it was and how helpful the support staff were.

Yes, i was using the phone activation now, after trying again, since on my first attempt the number seemed to be dead. Works now, thx.

The Microsoft activation server will be there almost forever as FSX is not the only MS software that requires activation.
