October 10, 200619 yr Open Cameras.cfg file with notepadIt's found here:C:Documents and SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftFSXThe definition below appears right at the beginning of the file.Change the two lines indicated[CameraDefinition.001]Title = CockpitGuid = {B1386D92-4782-4682-A137-738E25D1BAB5}Description = This is the description of the cockpit viewOrigin = CockpitShowPanel = YesSnapPbhAdjust = OrdinalSnapPbhReturn = TruePanPbhAdjust = Swivel <<<<----- CHANGE THESEPanPbhReturn = False <<<<----- TWO LINESTrack = NoneShowAxis = FrontOnlyAllowZoom = TRUEInitialZoom = 1.0SmoothZoomTime = 2.0ShowWeather = YesXyzAdjust = TRUEShowLensFlare=FALSECategory = CockpitHotKeySelect=2While you're at it, go back into FSX.cfg and delete the pan_in_cockpit_mode=1 (it's useless now) and replace it with stick_sensitivity_mode=0Be aware...it all works quite differently from what you were used to in FS9 and previous. You may not like it at first but you'll have to adapt cuz there's no way around it. Furthermore, when you pan left or right, at some point it switches to VC cuz there are no side panels in 2D cockpit mode.Read the release notes - they contain a good description of the new "camera views".CalCYXX
October 10, 200619 yr Thanks for that Cal..What does stick sensitivity mode do?Also is there anyway to speed up the pan in cockpit?ThanksBill
October 10, 200619 yr No, there isn't. Over the course of the Beta testing cycle, I've become accustomed to the rate.CalCYXX
October 10, 200619 yr >No, there isn't. Over the course of the Beta testing cycle,>I've become accustomed to the rate.>>Cal>CYXX>Actually there is. If you have the Deluxe version it's all explained in the Camera SDK. But to save you the time, just add one or both of these lines to the section in the CFG file your interested in:PitchPanRate = ##HeadingPanRate = ##Replace the ## with a the rate in degrees per second.
October 12, 200619 yr Well, I am getting nowhere fast. I have applied the two changes above to the camera.cfg and there is no panning in cockpit view, the hat switch just shows the four positions - front, right, back and left. The joystick is calibrated correctly. To clarify I am wanting this panning in the 2D cockpit view, as in FS9.I also wonder whether I am missing a larger command because I cannot get ctrl-J to move the gates, with the default 747,737 and Airbus at Heathrow, Seattle and Vancouver they just won't move! Engines just off, door open.NigelMy System:AMD Athlon 64 3500+Gigabyte GA K8NS ULTRA-939 mobo ATI Radeon X800XL video card AGP (Omega drivers)2GB Kingston PC3200DDR RAMMaxtor 80GB 7200rpm hard driveMaxtor 250GB 7200rpm hard driveCreative Sound Blaster Live! with latest driversNEC FE950+ crt monitorCHProducts PCI yoke and pedalsWindows XP Home edition with SP2DirectX 9.0©Cooler Master 600W power supply Five case fans
October 12, 200619 yr I did the above, and it worked for me in the 2D cockpit. The only thing I can think of that you might not have done is that you have to assign your hat switch to the pan command (it was a default command in FS9, but not in FSX apparently - at least not in the demo which is all I have at the moment).Martin
October 12, 200619 yr Do you mean to look left, right etc...? The virtual cockpit has the look panning usually with the hatstick, and the look left, right etc... is used via the hatstick as well in 2D, at least it defaulted to these settings for me. Was there another pan mode in 2D?Ian.
October 12, 200619 yr There is a command specifically for panning in the 2D. The various view commands looked confusing to me, but by chance I stumbled on the right one to use. Unfortunately, I am not at my FS computer right now, so I cannot tell you what it is, and I cannot remeber off the top of my head.I will be able to tell you in a few hours' time, if no one else has done so by then.Martin
October 12, 200619 yr The command you need to assign to the hat switch is the "View (pan)" command.Hope it works.Martin
October 13, 200619 yr I have solved my two problems (current ones, that is)!Firstly re the pan in cockpit view, I was editing the camera.cfg in the FXX root folder, not the one in the C:....Documents and SettingsNigelApplication DataMicrosoftFSX folder. I edited this latter camera.cfg file and the pan is working properly in the 2D cockpit. Secondly, re opening and closing the jetgates, I had to turn on the "advanced animations" in the Display settings to get the ctrl-J to workNigelVancouver
October 15, 200619 yr Mike, is there a way we could have a brief document explaining all the nifty cfg entries :) Maybe later, it could be on the FSinsider site??
