Meet and greet idea

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking we should add a meet and greet forum of sort. That way, simmers in a specific city or geographic area can organize friendly meet and greets in real life. Beers and/or food. Or just hanging out at a local airport talking shop about plane and simming.

That way, the personal element can come intl play and hopefully avsim itself wi become more personal.

For starters, I'm in the Chicago land area. I have been simming for 22 years since I was 8 years old. I'm a current airline pilot. I would honestly love to chat with folks in the area face to face and what not.

Matt, sounds great. I hope with ideas and organization, it will come to be realized.

Use the "Contact Us" form and promote your suggestion. I think it's a good idea too.

Thank you.

Living in a tiny country has its advantages. 😁 Only 70 miles to Cosford each October where I meet people present here on AvSim. I also take Pete and John Dowson and although Pete prefers to keep a low profile he also enjoys meeting fellow simmers.

Coincidentally, I'm going to the monthly meeting of the North-West Flight Sim Group today a few miles away in Heald Green, 1.5 miles from Manchester Airport. Great view of inbounds to 23R. New members always welcome. One member drives down from the Lake District but most live with 25 miles. We also have a couple of retired captains from Thomson and Britannia so there's plenty of expertise available. http://www.nwfsg.org.uk/index.html

Avsim used to have a forum section that hosted area groups such as you describe. I remember attending a few meetings of the Colorado group and it was a lot of fun. I don't remember the reason that section was removed from the forums but afterwards the group slowly faded away.

I'll endorse this as that's how I met you for the 1st time, as well as meeting a gentleman from the South Wales area as we both shared an interest in DCS. And a year later, shared a ride with Alan(Chock) courtesy of your assistance.
