Transponder

Recommended Posts

Just wondering ... shouldn't the FO turn on the transponder prior to entering the runway/ once cleared for take off?i normally have to do it manually although he sets TA/RA .... it's the Airbus pro version, preflight events not started.

Thanks

Rich

Hi Rich,

Yes, FO should do that.  Make sure you hit the trigger.

TRIGGER -> CAPTAIN SPEAKS: "CABIN CREW SEATS FOR DEPARTURE".
  1. TCAS To TARA.
  2. Check Approach Clear of Traffic.
  3. Packs 1 and 2 To Off (If Packs Off Takeoff selected on Brief Panel).
  4. Runway Turnoff Lights On.
  5. Nose Light Takeoff.
  6. Strobes On.
  7. Sliding Table Stow.
  8. Brake Fans Off.
  9. Engine Mode Selector (The Captain will have issued a command to set the Selector to Ignition prior to this flow).

Hi

I gave it another go, The TCAS was set to TA/RA but was never switched on by the FO ..the message TCAS STBY remained after departure so i had to manually switch it on.

On the Aerosoft Airbus transponder there is two ways to it on , there's a switch top left that says STBY.. AUTO..ON (FO never sets this)  and the one the FO moves is the bottom right one that says STBY.. TA.. TA/RA, if the one top left is set to STBY then  no matter what the FO sets on the bottom right it will stay in STBY mode ... you need to manually move the top left to on or auto.

Yeah that was all set etc, I have got round it by making it part of my flow to switch the top let switch to auto or on so when the FO turns the bottom right switch to TA/RA the transponder turns on as normal.

Transponder is still not being set correctly for departure (P3d4 Button version Airbus pro) , when set correctly TA ONLY in a white box should appear, works fine with the default Airbus copilot feature , i have to set the TCAS manually every time with FS2CREWs prior to departure .

Two flights today .. one with FS2CREW and one with the standard Aerosoft FO...

Using FS2CREW .... TA in the white box on the ND didnt show

Using the AS FO ... TA in the white box displayed showing the TCAS was correctly set for departure .

Edit

i have some screenshots to show you what modes etc the TCAS was set to on both, just trying to get them up loaded
