Request - Bezel Less mode....Hear me out :)

Featured Replies

Hi,

Hear me out please ๐Ÿ™‚ย As it will make sense...I promise.

ย

I have been seeing a few posts of people that have hardware CDU units...Like me...which are being used with PMDG aircraft. ย Some of us also have this product as well but many do not since they bought a hardware unit.

ย

The Problem:

P3D does not play well with undocked screens being on a different Video Card (nor does P3D support SLI either). ย When you undock the CDU screen and move it to a different Display that is not on the main video card you will get flickering and worse you will see the FPS drop to word not allowed!! ย PMDG has no solution as they don't offer any kind of "remote" displays that can be run on the network in a simple fashion like say a Avionics package.

ย

The Opportunity:

This product is fantastic at being able to run on Network computers in a simple to use format ๐Ÿ™‚ย A web browser.....Even Better!! it does not have to be on a separate computer if one does not desire that since you can run the web browser on the additional Video Card(s) and they will not impact the FPS...Though why not use an additional PC since many sim pit users are offloading other tasks like Weather and hardware that can run on the network.

ย

The Solution:

Be able to run any of the CDU products in a "bezel less" mode similar to how we tell the PMDG CDU pop ups to remove the bezel. ย This will allow us to make the browser "full screen" on the display and "fill" the screen like a pop out gauge.

ย

There are a few posts that I have seen about similar issues as mine in trying to maximize the displays I "need" on the Main GPU. ย I just saw one today inside of a 737 Yoke post where they mentioned not having flown because of this same "predicament" and that is when the idea "popped" up (Pun not intended) since I have been using both my Hardware CDU and my iPad CDU.

Thanks,

Les

Hmmm, not true in my house. I use several un-docked windows and move them to other displays which are rendered by a different video card than the main display; they function fine without flickering using Windows 10. However, I had to go into the properties of the 'Prepar3D.exe', look at the Compatibility tab, and tick "Disable Full Screen Optimizations". Without doing this I had flickering on my secondary screens... but no more.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Thank you for offering up a possible resolution to this -- which requires changing the configuration to no longer have optimizations enabled...I will have a look at this.

Now maybe you don't agree and that is fine...Saying "not true in my house" and then going on to say that you did have an issue with flickering on the screens is argumentative at the least and kind of "rude". ย You challenge my issue saying it is not valid and then go on to say you had a similar issue. ย Further you don't state that you have the same complaint about PMDG and an external CDU system with an Undocked window.

I appreciate you offering up a possible solution to try to get rid of the flicker. ย I plan to try it and evaluate if I am able to maintain the rest of the benefits this may or may not take away from.

In the future please don't start out by saying something is not true...even if you add "in my house" if you are going to respond to something I post.

Thank you.

Huh??? Argumentative and rude?ย That's your 'script'...none of that was happening when I typed it out. When I'm feeling argumentative I normally disengage fromย the world to avoid misunderstandings like this!ย

I seeย that the words 'not true in my house' triggered something like "you're full of it" in your head.ย Sorry if my choice of word arrangementย irritated you.

Carry on,ย

Greg

That is not help....Saying "Not True....." is Trolling......Saying "disable features in the OS".... Does not resolve the scenario with a request for functionality to improve a sim add-on.

You know Les, you clearly aren't interested in help. The guy was not demeaning in any way. "Not in my house" - translation: I'm not experiencing the problem you describe when configured to do what you're doing...that's all...no attitude, just shorthand.

Full Screen Optimization is a known issue with P3D. Ignore the suggestion if you so choose, but don't complain when someone offers a possible solution for a know problem...he even closes with" Hope this helps, good luck." Yep, sounds like trolling to me!

AND go fix the word not allowed problem yourself!

So this was an A-B conversation that you chose to get into --- C your way out of it....
