February 10, 20206 yr Hello, this is a tough CTD I'm unable to solve ... first time since many, many years I haven't started P3D since new year. Yesterday I thought, I want to fly again a bit and made many, many updates: FSLabs, RealTurb, AIRAC, GSX, Orbx Direct. Since then, I get a CTD as soon as I click on an other weather theme in the startup menu. Or, when I try to load into a flight directly, the loading stucks at 83% (creating world wide weather) and crashes some seconds after. Unforunately there's no entry in the windows event log. Steps, I have done so far: deleted all saved flight (in case one is corrupt) made a repair with client.exe copied back my bunch of vanilla installed weather themes from a backup started P3D with and without simStarter disabled FSUIPC and RealTurb So, currently I'm ouf odeas and would be lucky for any hint. Many thanks! February 10, 20206 yr It's most likely the cmeteo.dll module. Disable in dll.xml and see if this fixes it. I got a ctd while sitting at FlightBeam KIAD in heavy weather like a thunderstorm. With just normal weather no problem. I was mostly using PMDG aircraft but recall using one of the default twin engines too. The module is used by Carenado for there weather radar. Took a long time to investigate including a trouble ticket to Hi Fi. Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! February 11, 20206 yr Author Hello Jim, thanks for answering I do not have such a DLL on my whole computer and never stumpled across it the last years. Do you have a definite path where I could find it probably? February 11, 20206 yr A corrupt wxstationlist.bin or .wx file associated with your startup scenario can cause this problem. Try renaming wxstationlist.bin (located in %appdata%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4) and re-run the sim, and also move any .wx files out of the Prepar3D files folder. February 11, 20206 yr Carenado aircraft are default on P3DV4. The module should be in your main P3D folder. Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! February 11, 20206 yr Author Spooky, tried all solutions and not one helps. wxstationlist.bin does not help, I have also removed any files from P3D files, ctmeteo.dll I do not have... even not in my vanilla backup of P3Dv4 The irritating thing is, that I could from time to time change the weather theme without CTD. And I tried several steps to make it reproduceable when it happens, but no luck. Still out of ideas Edited February 11, 20206 yr by guenseli Guenter Steiner -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betatester for: A2A, LORBY, FSR-Pillow Tester --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
February 11, 20206 yr Author One example how spooky it is: I started P3D just by desktop icon, means without simStarter --> CTDs I uninstalled then RealTurb --> no CTD Started with simStarter next time -- > CTD Started again without simStarter --> CTD I then let run MakeRWYs and start P3D --> no CTD Then - ultimative test - start P3D with simStarter - no CTD that is the last state, will investigate later on ... maybe it is cured now? February 12, 20206 yr The first thing to load when you start up P3D are the two dll.xml's that load modules. MakeRwy's is a standalone program and not loaded. You could have had a corrupted database though. This is the first time I have ever heard of MakeRwy's or the data it outputs cause CTD's. Whenever you update NAVDATA, it is always a good idea to also update MakeRwy's. Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
