Crossing the Red - #6

Crossing the Red - #6

The route resumes at Marla (Nullabor Motel) with a quick detour to see the Bunda Cliffs, then proceeding west across the Nullabor plain with a stop at Eucla before heading north into the Nullabor to Forrest, then south again towards the coast to a stop at Madura.  The route continues westward to Caiguna, where we follow a section of the 100 mile strait Eyre Highway to the Balladonia airstrip.  The final stop for this section of the route is at Norseman (YNSM).

Documentation
The Crossing the Red Pt 2b flightplan (updated with start at Nullabor Motel) and Pilots Guide Pt 2 found
here.

Aircraft:   The distances between the airstrips varies between 60 and 90 miles and the total length is 536 miles.  This might be a good week for warbirds but the King Air would also work.  As always, you are free to fly what you like.

Whoohoo! :biggrin: P-40 for me this time. I've paid for it, I might as well fly the thing.

Good idea! Haven't flown a P-40 in ages, I will also fly one for this flight.

I've just spent the last two days coming to terms with the gear and flaps. All squared away now.*

* Famous last words. :rolleyes:

Another entry into the oldtimers' Warbirds Airshow. This for the Milviz P-38L. (In the colors of Mac MacDonald's "Putt Putt Maru". Group commander for the 475th from New Guinea to Philippines, 1943-1945. CO when Charles Lindbergh did undercover combat flights with the 475th during 1944.)

It took me a while to remember the auto hydraulic pump, the manual pump was too cumbersome..😀
