P3D V4 countless problems

Featured Replies

Ben,

I wish to say that I fully agree with your methods.  However, I stress the fact, that a vast majority of my problems are stemming from power failures, brownouts and my lack of knowledge.

THIS is why, I download an add-on, test and tweak. Sometimes I have to download up to three times, because it is stopped at some stage through a power failure, and if that is the case the download is restarted. This can be extremely time consuming particularly with ORBX (Global), A power fail is easy to recognise, whilst a brownout (not enough bities being supplied) is quite a bit harder to diagnose and is probably just as likely to corrupt files as the power failures.

Again, this is why I download an add-on and then test it and this is where the tweaking comes to the fore. Finding corrupt files and trying to fix them.

These difficulties are exacerbated by the fact that there is very, very little technical expertise available here and is why I appeal for help on these forums so very often.  Without the help given here, I simply could not fly as it would be just too difficult for me to sort out.

At no stage, have I actually denigrated or complained about, P3D, Xplane or Aerofly etc.  I am absolutely sure I know where my problems lie, and, none of these, by the way, will be fixed by the new MSFS product.

I love my sims (all of them) and my flying will only be intensified by the malady spreading around the world at the moment.

Having said all of that, I will state categorically, that P3D is the most difficult (for me at least) to diagnose and fix. In reality, it is quite often easier, albeit a lengthier process, to do a clean install of P3D than it is to find what the hell the latest power failure has corrupted, when it wont start or other problems manifest themselves. Google is my best friend but he/she can not fix everything LOL

I am going to leave it at that, knowing that very few Flight Simmers share my electrical problems and, further, probably cannot fully understand them.  In the meantime, I wish everyone a safe passage through the Covid-19 crisis and joy to the world.

Regards

Tony
