Goodbye Tiger

Recommended Posts

Well That's it, just Like That!  11+ Years flying the Bus and now officially unemployed.  All of Tigerair Pilot's A320 and 737 Crew are now Officially redundant. Virgin cut us free. Our Last Day today and can't even get together to commiserate together over a few brews. I know it's like this everywhere, but it still sucks.

An Airline, Much like it's namesake, a Cat that had survived more than it's 9 lives. Can't say it doesn't sting now that it's over. Couldn't have worked with a better bunch of brothers and sisters. Camaraderie like I had never Known. those guys bent over backwards to grease the wheels of that Airline and performed Miracles Daily. What a Ride it has Been.

Shattered.

sorry to hear that T.  I'm dreading what may be inevitable here in the USA as well.  All these paid furloughs can't last forever...and probably won't last as long enough when the passengers return.

Having flown Tigerair Singapore-Perth-Singapore, this is such saddening news to read.

I just hope things improve soon, because for every downturn there is an upturn, and you and your fellow airmen and airwomen are back up in them tha'r blue skies.

Best Wishes.

You have my sympathies. I think I flew with Tiger when I flew between Sydney and Melbourne in 2016. I saw the most spectacular storm roll in and out whilst waiting to board in Sydney. It was bizarre. It went from hot and sunny to black with a visibility of nothing with incredible pink lightning in just a few minutes. Planes that were taxing literally just stopped and vanished into the blackness. Just when I thought I would be stuck for hours it vanished as quickly as it came in and the planes started moving again. The whole thing lasted a little over 30 mins. An interesting part of the world to be an aviator, I'm sure.

Anyway, all the best fella. I hope things work out for you.

Just 6 weeks ago I was in Australia visiting a very good friend of mine who flew for Tiger, we used to fly together in SE Asia  almost 30 years ago as very young FOs,

We sat on his deck reminiscing  , both now senior captains, and and drifted off into a peaceful mid afternoon nap together with not a care in the world .

Now he’s out of a job and I’m furloughed with my mortgage payments on hold.

Funny how much the world can change in 6 weeks ,I’m still waiting to wake up from that nap and find this was all a really bad dream.
