(Regarding your post, many governments around the world, from all political spectrum, did the same errors, acted the same way, and contradicted themselves week after week).

It's a pity that the WSJ, unlike many (most?) newspapers are still keeping the Covid-19 articles behind a paywall.

I fully agree that idiocy and outright prevarication is not confined to any single polity.

 

Frankly, what was not done and should have been is for later.

For now, is how to fix the damage.
