October 16, 200619 yr I've been checking a LOT of threads and it seems that for every FSX whiner, there's a lot more people posting positive threads.I played FS9 after spending hours with FSX and FS9 just seemed so, "flat". The up/downdrafts weren't even that noticeable, and the feeling of immersion just wasn't there. It seems the whiners are in the (vocal) minority, not the majority.Oh well, looks like us who like FSX will be enjoying our simming experience with a next-gen feel of flight and amazing visuals whilst the whiners are stuck with their FS9.:)James
October 16, 200619 yr It happens following every release. For me with an average PC (it was pretty top notch 3 three years ago!) FSX is damned amazing, but it took a bit of time to get all the settings right. When I first loaded up I thought I was going to be disappointed, but tweaks here and there and reading all the tips and downloading FR-friendly textures was worth it... FSX is just so cool now.
October 16, 200619 yr I am seeing a LOT of FSX fanny posts talking about reducing everything in sight: texture size, autogen, bump mapping, traffic, bloom, mesh, cloud settings, weather. . . enjoy your FSX!:-) ;-)
October 16, 200619 yr How about counting negative responses vs positive responses and stop labeling posters as whiners??What is wrong with constructive negative responses?Maybe you are whining about posters? Bill
October 16, 200619 yr I don't have an issue with constructive negative comments, but there are more and more people saying "FSuX! LOL" and "M$ have stuffed up big time!!" without any real substance. It's funny how most of these people seem to dissappear when they are barraged with positive replies about FSX following their posts.FSX isn't perfect, but if you spend a bit of time with it you come to realise it's FAR superiour to FS9. If you have any doubts check out some of the vids at youtube.James
October 16, 200619 yr Abusing people whose opinion differs from your own by pejorative labels is not helpful. Legitimate complaints are just as valid as positive reviews and deserve serious consideration rather than dismissal. If there were not serious problems out there, would there be so much activity among the experts seeking solutions in the form of modifications (tweaks) to FSX?Cheers,Noel. 11th Gen i9-11900K @ 3.5GHz | nVidia GeForce RTX 3080 | Corsair 64 GB RAM | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB | Asus 27" RoG G-Sync Track IR5 | Thrustmaster Warthog | CH Products Pedals
October 16, 200619 yr Though I agree that FSX sure has a lot to offer, there are also the cheerleaders here that just keep saying everything about it is great.. it goes both ways. :-waveshocky :-hah http://img7.exs.cx/img7/5379/Banner21.jpg
October 16, 200619 yr My view is that, like most things in life, it's a matter of two steps forward, one back. In the end, we're getting closer to an imaginary goal, but it's all a great adventure.Personally, I love the new graphics, the new ground vehicles and the new multiplayer mode. Sure, MS have almost completely ignored AI and we've still got the dreaded "five minutes", plus slow taxi speeds etc. Not to mention the very (very) odd switch of active runways which meant I almost collided with a Gulfstream head-on coming in to land while taking off from the same runway! But it is supposed to be fun, isn't it?
October 16, 200619 yr I got the same switch of active runways playing FS9 - today!!! First time I ever noticed it, thought.James
October 16, 200619 yr >If there were not serious problems out there, would there be>so much activity among the experts seeking solutions in the>form of modifications (tweaks) to FSX?>No different to FS9 then.

I, for one, am sick and tired of the intolerance shown to varying points of view by these closed-minded self-described "glass half full" folks. Considering the problems with performance and the irritating and offensive activation requirement for FSX and the RAH..RAH, THANK YOU SO MUCH..GIVE US MORE, MICROSOFT knee-jerk cheerleading we continue to see from the same old players or their clones, I am nearly convinced that these "glass half full" folks are a destructive force on the future of the flight sim hobby.

October 16, 200619 yr I don't know James,I got my hands on an early copy and was critical about some of the bugs and the fps out of the box. I got a lot of positive post as a comment. Most of these positive posters did not even have FS-X for themselves at that time. People seem to be afraid to tell Aces how they experience the sim. Afraid that Microsoft will pull out of the flightsim market. The thing is that judging from the state in which FS-X is released now I'm seriously thinking it would not be a great loss. If this is al they can show for 3 years of designing and progamming it will be better this way. My copy is returned to the store today. I will look if they release official patches and if they will solve the problems with the program before I even consider buying it.I guess time will tell. I hope the forum server doesn't meltdown tomorrow when everyone gets the full FS-X experience. My guess is that Bush flyers that do aal the tweaks wil be happy. Other simmers might like the missions or the multiplayer they give us. Maybe I'm unique and most off you will like it. We shall see.
