FSX stuck on loading screen after installing an airport

Featured Replies

Hi,

Till yesterday, all was fine but today when I installed a freeware airport which came with a .exe file to install it, the fsx got stuck on loading screen. Please help me.

Loading screen?  Do you mean "Splash Screen"?  If that is the case, then it sounds like your logbook.bin file has been corrupted.  There are repair tools to fix it if it is important to you for your previous flight records, but temporarily, you can go to My Documents/Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder, open it and cut/paste the logbook.bin file somewhere safe.  Or you can just delete it!  Then restart FSX and it will build a new logbook.bin and you should be good to go!

Hi @charliearon

I did consider that fix. But it did not help. I also uninstalled the scenery from add or remove programs. Tht did not help as well.

What scenery did you install?  Where did it come from?  Link?

Perhaps cut and save your FSX.CFG file to a separate folder and then let FSX re-build the CFG file.  It's helped me out of a bunch of trouble over the years...

If it works, you can add back any CFG tweeks you may have added.

@charliearonYes, that is the screen i am stuck on.

I installed Vadodara airport scenery. I downloaded the scenery from Avsim library. By Ashish Singh. @overspeed3

I would like to do that but i have many addons installed. Would those be affected?

vadodara.zip?  Looks to be an FS2004 scenery.  Sometimes they work, sometimes not!  I am downloading and will look to see what's in it.

The .exe would not run.  Said "invalid Win32 application".  I NEVER trust an autoinstaller to do things right.  I always install first to a folder I create to be able to see what it contains.

@charliearon thank you so much. That means a lot. Appreciate it.

About removing your FSX.cfg and rebuilding a new one....what good are your addons if FSX doesn't work?  Don't delete the original .cfg just put it somewhere safe so you can see if the new one fixes your problem.

I tried the download again....this ain't a good sign!

As in it is not a good addon? @charliearon

I would try to replace the .cfg file.

Also  backup scenery.cfg to a separate location, delete it in its required location, then let FSX rebuild it.  No brainer since it started with a scenery addition.  You could also use the addon "Scenery Config Editor" program to look at the scenery.cfg file.

My FSX works fine.  I have reported that download to the AVSIM Library Manager to check for malware.

Just as the logbook file, will the scenery.cfg re build itself upon launching fsx?
