VCRuntime.dll CTD in P3D v5

Recommended Posts

HI All

Couple of days in with my new P3D v5.

Extensive testing and slowly adding Orbx scnery.

P3D was very unstable when I first installed it - nt.dll crashes I think at that point. Then I took advice from and let P3D regenerate the p3d config file. This seems to have settled it down a lot.

I am now running mostly high or max settings with truesky on ultra. I have an oldish 4690K PC with a GTX1080 graphics card and 32Gb RAM. My frame rates run between 30 and 70fps even in fairly complex areas (like S England in Orbx England and EGHI and EGKA scenery). VRAM useage (not in big cities and add on airports though) is around 4Gb So all good there - may was 6.3Gb over Orbx Honolulu Citiscape and no crash. Very exciting potential here giving a new lease of life to my extensive investment in P3D.

But one thing that keeps spoiling the show is a vcruntime140.dll crash. I believe this CTD can occur with a corrupted or incompatible add ons. However the only addons I have are Orbx scenery and the Real Air Turbine Duke with no GTN installed - just default GPS.

The crash has happened before (in Colombia) but his time it hapens consistently as I approach RWY22 at CYBD in Orbx CYBD with Pacific Fjords or NRM scenery.  Orbx Central seems quite happy with my installation.

So it's either Orbx or the Turbine Duke. Stiill testing.

Any ideas, anyone have ther same issue and CTD? I've seen a few people hacking v4 add ons into V5 so it stands to reason there should  have been some simlar problems if it is that - or it  just me - or is P3D still inhernetly unstable?

Thanks for any advice.

I had that problem for awhile. It's a Windows 10 issue. Updating my Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable files helped. Oddly enough, installing FSDreamteam GSX 2 update helped also as the FSDT installer fixes some of those settings. I'm not a Microsoft expert, so it took me awhile to find the right packages from Microsoft.

The FSDT live update app will install the very latest VC++ runtimes if they are not already present.

Hi both. Thanks for your suggestions. Just downloading GSX2 now.

Is there a specific update for V4 or will the v4.5 installer work OK?

I'vr just got a bizarre error message from the GSX 2 installation saying it can't find Visual C++ 2005 Redist on my PC. I have at least 2 versions of C++ 2005 on my PC. Which one does it need?
