Hey guys does this great tool also check for duplicate AFCAD files?

Thanks

Mike

It does not exactly. I believe it does have an export to google maps feature, but I have not tried that. One good tool is littlenavmap as it will list all of the sceneries it is reading when you click on the airport information.

Not really, no. What would that look like? List all BGL files that have the same airport record, identified by the ICAO code? Because the way I see it, an addon airport is at least always a duplicate of the default counterpart, isn't it?

Best regards

LORBY-SI

I think ADE also has a feature where it will list all BGLs for an ICAO code.

And also littlenavmap will show both default airport and any addons. But it's a good tool to check if you made a mistake with your own AFCADs or downloading modified AFCADs. Sometimes I make a copy the existing AFCAD and forget to rename the extension and both will get loaded, oops!

I know AFX had this function, but I have never been able to find it in ADE. It was one of the really helpful features in AFX.

Yeah upon looking in ADE it will only show the default airport file for a given ICAO, so it must have been in AFX.

If you have a default airport bleeding through what i do is launch ADE (make sure you're using v1.79 dev) and then i press "Open stock airport".

I type in the ICAO (in my case KMCO) and an APX file should appear. It will also display the directory to the file. In KMCO's example, the file is located in

Prepar3D v5\scenery\0302\scenery\APX26210.bgl

Go to that folder and you'll find files that start with APX, BRX, cvx, and OBX.

Notice how the numbers at the end of the APX file (26210) also exists on the BRX, CVX, and OBX file (with the exception that the CVX file doesn't have a 0 at the end)

So in KMCO's case, I would have to delete (or move) APX26210, BRX26210, cvx2621, and OBX26210. I then load up P3D with Taxi2Gate KMCO and the default buildings are gone.

I would use Simple Airport Scanner but i dont think scruffyduck has updated it and this is just one way i found to get rid of it. But keep in mind this will actually remove the stock airport so don't do this unless you have an add-on airport that's already there.

And of course you can always just update the exclude bgl in the AFCAD.

Sometimes there are multiple airports in the default BGL files...if you delete them (or move) then this affects all of those other airports too...

If some bgl files remove a lot of airports you can also use ADE to remove only specified airports and objects like the runways, background poly, ILS, runways, etc.
https://scruffyduck.screenstepslive.com/s/help_docs/m/20268/l/331650-how-do-i-remove-a-stock-airport-from-the-sim

And if you mess up, just run the installscenery.msi file to reinstall all default scenery like airports.

Best way to check if a bgl has multiple airports is to open the bgl and see if ADE will say which airport you would like to display. In the case Prepar3D v5\Scenery\0101\scenery\APX09080.bgl includes multiple airports in Alaska. If you plan on deleting airports that's contained in one bgl then you can see the article above.
