Hi all. New here. After some advice if at all possible.

im dying to get back into simming. Ideally I’m after a PC that can give me good performance with addons etc (good quality aircraft and scenery)

So. The investigations have begun. And from looking on Chillblast, a good bundle has been found. But I’m unsure if the specs will give what I’m after. Can anyone shed some insight on this set up? Thanks a lot

Processor: Intel Core i5-9600K CPU, 6 Cores / 6 Threads, 3.7 - 4.6GHz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super 8GB Graphics Card
Motherboard: Asus TUF B360M-E GAMING Motherboard
Memory: 16GB DDR4 2666MHz Memory (2 x 8 GB Sticks)

If you take a look at the recently-released specs for the forthcoming new Ms flight sim, that should give you a pretty good idea of what kind of computer you need to run the newest flight sims.

https://www.flightsimulator.com/

Looking at the specs MS listed, the PC you are looking at falls somewhere between the 'recommended' and the 'ideal' specs, being nearer the ideal ones, apart from RAM, which is an easy later update to improve.

And it's a similar story of you look at the specs required for P3D as well:

https://www.prepar3d.com/system-requirements/

So I'd say you can expect that PC to do pretty well with recent flight sims. There are of course better systems with will handle it more comfortably, but I reckon you'll be okay with what you are considering.

@KLMScud, welcome to AvSim. :smile:

I bought my machine from Chillblast so you've chosen well. The only thing I would suggest is you consider increasing RAM to 32Gb. There is a customise option that allows you to tweak the components. The GSkill 32Gb option would add to the cost but if you're serious about MFS that would be the optimal memory.

That spec is pretty poor.

9600k is a decent cpu, however the motherboard is pretty much low end junk that won't allow any overclocking.  Also, 2060 is a pretty average card.  The memory is also slow, you should be looking at 3200mhz stuff at least, although the junk motherboard won't use anything faster tham 2666 stuff anyway.

What's your budget?

Thank you all for your replies so far. This is something I want to get right so I really appreciate your help

as far as budget goes. Around £3000

£3000? That's what I paid for the system in my signature so you can get a much better system than your earlier one.

Have a look at this one. https://www.chillblast.com/chillblast-fusion-dreamliner-2-x-plane-flight-sim-pc.html?category_id=672

Just two caveats. Hold fire on ordering one just now. The 2080 graphics card is not the best. The 2080Ti would be better but the price is outrageous. Nvidia are close to announcing the 3000 range of cards that will have more memory and will be cheaper (probably).

I'd also recommend Windows 10 Professional. Gives you more control over updates and delaying them. I'm delighted with my system and would recommend Chillblast every time.

You can change the case if you prefer. Speak to them. They are very flexible.

@KLMScud, the one thing you didn’t mention was a monitor and resolution. Do you intend using an existing monitor and if so, what is its resolution?

If you don’t have one then think about whether you want FullHD 1920*1080 or UHD/4K - 3840*2160. Four times the resolution of FullHD so requires a beefy graphics card. 2080 Super is probably borderline depending on the type of aircraft you intend to fly.

Or QHD (2560x1440), which is a good compromise on smaller screens (up to 32") than you'd normally use to get the best from 4k.

Tend to agree with the above post that a good compromise is a 1440p monitor for coming back to simming.

Also, maybe the OP can provide some info on what sims they are considering installing? This may have a bearing on some PC components.
