May 6, 20206 yr I rarely fly these kinds of things but there is a neat little experimental mod to the ASK21, containing a small electric motor. It's capable of self launching so that's what I did. May 6, 20206 yr Nice! I've flown a real non-motorised K21 as I was a member of the local gliding club for a while until funds dried up. The club had a couple of K13s and a K21 at the time for their 2 seat options. May 6, 20206 yr Author Thanks. Yeah I've been looking into a glider club.... I'd love to fly in one and maybe get a checkout someday | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 6, 20206 yr Gliding is one of the cheapest forms of aviation in terms of fees and membership etc. My example: Many years ago a friend of mine was part way through his PPL (I think he had to give up in the end). One day he was doing nothing but touch and go's, and that one day cost more than the annual fee at the gliding club! The other charges were £6 per launch although in the event of a cable break it was free (no aerotows at the club field), and then 30 pence per minute of flight time - 3 minute circuits were not uncommon. The costs were kept down because the club has no full time ground staff.
