October 18, 200619 yr Hi:For those of you still on the fence, below are some comparison shots which speak for themselves. What they cannot convey is the sense of "flight
October 18, 200619 yr FSX in Salzburghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158935.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158937.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158939.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158940.jpg
October 18, 200619 yr Keep in mind that notwithstanding the lower frame rates in FSX. it was a lot smoother and more immersive. FS9 had stutters.
October 18, 200619 yr >wow, thanks for the comparison, the difference is huge!I think the most striking difference is that the mountainsseems higher in FSX. Otherwise I would say no huge difference.
October 18, 200619 yr >Keep in mind that notwithstanding the lower frame rates in>FSX. it was a lot smoother and more immersive. FS9 had>stutters. For me the opposite is true. FS9 ismuch smoother. FSX has stutters. What system do you have?
October 18, 200619 yr Well the cockpit in the FSX shots look a heck of a lot better. But I am sure there i s a price :-)http://www.lemosnet.com/misc/gpilotsig.jpg
October 18, 200619 yr I'm on an opteron @ 2.6 2 gigs ram dual 7800gtx. Please do not take this personally, but if the only difference you can discern between the shots is the height of the mountains, than FSX is possibly not for you.
October 18, 200619 yr Here is one more on take offhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158971.jpgAnd from the oil rig mission to show weatherhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/158972.jpg
October 18, 200619 yr >I'm on an opteron @ 2.6 2 gigs ram dual 7800gtx.>The AMD single cpu's seem to handle FSX better for some reason. Nice shoots.
October 18, 200619 yr What tweaks have you done?? Excellent shots. I can't get shots like that and I am running a core 2 duo 2.13ghz 1gb ram (i should upgrade that to 2) and geforce 7600gs 256mb ddr2. Graphics card is weak but I don't want to upgrade yet because DX10 cards are coming out. Is your graphics card 512 or 256. Either way it's a nice card. Would love to know your tweaks and how the graphics were in this same location without tweaks.

October 18, 200619 yr Recent tests by Bill Womack have made a strong case for having 2gigs of system ram minimum. There's a thread probably disappearing rapidly below now on this. He found a utility that displays how your computer is using system ram and video ram real time. He showed that when his video ram needs exceeded his capacity, system ram was "borrowed", and in some cases he reached 100% on his 1gig system ram.I recently rebuilt my computer and this time I bought 2 gigs of system ram, on a conroe e6600 on a 975x mobo with a radeon x1900xt 256mb vid. After seeing his thread, I downloaded this little utility and did some testing myself. I also found that demand for video ram exceeded my cards 256. I don't know yet perfectly how the utility works, its confusing because it seems to show a full scale of 512 mb for my video ram (as it did for Bill's in his example shots) while both of us have only 256mb on the card...but I can say that at no time did my 2gigs of system ram fill to 100%. HOWEVER....if I would have only had 1 gig of system ram it would have. I was using up to 75% of my 2 gigs.Best,Bob
