June 6, 20205 yr I know you've probably heard this before, and I've actually had this problem a few times before, but this time nothing at all is working. I've tried everything under the sun: every forum thread online (including all the related black screen ones), reinstalled p3d 3 times, removed all addons, updated all drivers, updated windows, deleted generated files, deleted cfg files, deleted shader files, disabled all antivirus, and disabled windows real-time protection. It happens in any scenario, even default. I can hear the aircraft noise. If I right-click I can not access the pop up menu thing. I can only hit escape to end the scenario etc. I reinstalled the NVIDIA driver and it worked... once. Now the problem still persists. I'm honestly out of options. It was working a few days ago and then out of nowhere this happens. Any suggestions? Edit: Specs are: Asus ROG Strix RTX 2080 OC Intel i7 9700K 16GB DDR4 RAM @ 3000Mhz 1440p 144Hz G-Sync compatible monitor. Operating Sytem: Windows 10 64bit No overclocking has been done. Black screen happens even with default settings.
June 6, 20205 yr Moderator Did you do a CLEAN install of the nvidia driver? Or did you run a driver cleaner before the update? If it runs once and then not obviously something is corrupting your driver files. Try uninstalling the driver. Then reinstall running as admin and select clean install. see if that helps. June 7, 20205 yr Author Update: While the black screen doesn't occur immediately after loading, it now appears after about 10 minutes.
June 7, 20205 yr Sounds like a hardware problem with the video card. I'd first reseat the board, make sure it's not full of dust/dirt, and check to make sure the auxiliary power connectors are securely connected and the fans are running, and then run a GPU stress test (e.g. OCCT) and look for overheating or stability issues. A weak/failing power supply that has the voltage drooping on the 12v bus could also be an issue. June 7, 20205 yr I had this issue few times a couple of days ago with the Aerosoft Airbus 318/319. I did reinstall the Visual C++ redistributables and completed the full tutorial flight EDDF-EGLL afterwards without a black screen. If the power supply or the graphics card itself were to blame, wouldn't the issue then also arise in another sim with similar GPU load? Hans
June 8, 20205 yr Author Thanks for all the responses. I appear to have fixed the issue by turning the fan speeds up on my GPU. This means it was to do with GPU temps. Went a whole 8 hour flight without a black screen so I'm happy now 🙂
