Around the world trip map - suggestions?

Featured Replies

1.  I think you should keep a flight diary of each flight.  Include things like your flight plan, your actual route, weather, unusual events, how long it took and perhaps a few pictures for each leg.  That will allow others to retrace your route, and it will be fun for you to review a couple of years later.  There is flight tracking software, some of it online.

2.  Personally, I am wary of overly long group flights.  You have over 80 legs.  I figure that even at one leg a day, this is a 12 week project.  Some of those legs will be eight hour plus flights.  I suspect that you will be adding legs; for example New Delhi to Lukla almost demands a stop at Kathmandu.  Finding time for the amount of butt time required will be a challenge.  Most people who start will probably drop out long before the end.I think a better approach would be to provide a half dozen goals, and allow those who want to participate to select how they reach those goals.

3.  I would note that a number of years ago, Aerosoft sponsored a lengthy around the world trip.  https://www.aerosoft.com/us/flight-simulation/news/around-the-world-in-2.5-years  The route flown was about as ambitious as your trip.  It took 2.5 years to complete.

3.  I am curious how the default airports will look in MSFS2020.  When I saw that Microsoft had  listed 40 detailed airports, I assume other airports will not be nearly as detailed.  At this point, I have enough nice scenery in Prepar3d that I can do an around the world trip mostly avoiding default airstrips  Of course, traversing Asia can be problematic because nice freeware or payware scenery can be rather sparse in spots.  Default airports have a tendency to be minimalistic and rather boring, not the way one ends a long flight..

Hi everyone,

so I am really excited about the upcoming sim. So excited that I already planned the Around the World trip which I'm gonna do first 😄 Looks like it will be in the TBM 930!

Would you guys have any suggestions? Maybe I missed some interesting places 🙂. I'll be starting from my hometown Brno, Czech Republic and going east.

Having recently completed my own world tour in a 737 just one piece of advice. Go west, not east. You'll have more hours of daylight.

Thanks everyone for the tips! 🙂

At the moment, I'm pretty confident that I'll actually try this.

If I wanted to do a blog about it (say here), how do I do it? Do I start a dedicated topic and make it 1 post a leg? Should I enable comments? Is there a dedicated subforum for such things so it doesn't get lost in the middle of other topics?

Thanks for any suggestions 🙂

MSFS 2020 and 2024

I've gone around the world more times than I can count.  Be sure to land in Lukla, Cairo, Couchevel, as well as taking in the scenery in places like Paris and London.  I do most of my flying in North America (when I take off for an around the world trip, I get a little bit in and then start to remember that...oh right, this drives me bonkers...I digress) so I know to look out for New York, Ottawa, Toronto, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, etc.

Problem with is, you will be fighting a head wind also.

Not on most of the flights. Once you get away from the jet stream winds can be quite slack. Just watch out for the storms in the tropics.
