I'm going to need a new video card, mine is at the minimum's to run FS 2020. I know nothing about them and kinda on a budget. Which of these 2 cards do you think would be the best for me, the XFX - THICC II Pro AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 or the MSI - GAMING X NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB GDDR6 PCI Express 3.0. There about the same price at Best Buy and I know nothing about video cards. Thanks for any help!

I wonder if the GTX 1660 Super (along with the recommended CPU) will get you 30 FPS at high settings, for 1080p resolution.

i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

the 1660 is a better buy if they are similar in price
here is a benchmark comparison
https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare/Radeon-RX-5500-XT-vs-GeForce-GTX-1660-SUPER/4174vs4159
benchmarks are not definative in games but they give an idea of what the card can do in a general sense

The 1660 is $30 more, is it still a better buy? Thanks

Keep in mind that DX12 is VRAM hungry so you might want to look at the 5500XT since it has 2 GB more.

Gigabyte x670 Aorus Elite AX MB; AMD 7800X3D CPU; Deepcool LT520 AIO Cooler; 64 Gb G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO DDR5 6000; Win11 Pro; P3D V5.4; 1 Samsung 990 2Tb NVMe SSD: 1 Crucial 4Tb MX500 SATA SSD; 1 Samsung 860 1Tb SSD; Gigabyte Aorus Extreme 1080ti 11Gb VRAM; Toshiba 43" LED TV @ 4k; Honeycomb Bravo.

Ensure your motherboard can support PCI Express 4, some older motherboards cannot, which means the Radeon one is out as a choice if your motherboard only supports PCI Express 3, unless you intend to also change your motherboard.

Personally, if I were you, I'd wait until the sim is out and see how your present PC handles things, this way you will know which component, if any, is the most pressing need for an upgrade.

Thanks for all the help guys. Found a GeForce 590 on eBay for less than $100, bought it. This should bring everything up to Recommended settings.
